I have never received a straight answer to this question.

What locations (if any) should I place in the "homepage" title tag for a company that exists in 3 different cities?? I know its against best practices to list multiple cities in one title tag, so what would be the solution in this case?? This is for the homepage only. I will create separate pages for each city, but what city would go in the homepage title tag??

    .

I prefer to use the home page for the brand, with separate pages for different branches and/or cities.

I was thinking that as well, but the homepage is THE most powerful page on your site, so it would make sense to try and rank it for some location. Right now, my client has all 3 of their locations listed in the homepage title tag, but I know this is against best practice. Also, it would compete with an inner page specifically targeting the same city.

Anyone else have any ideas here?

Yes, kind of. I see their title tag has all the countries they operate in. I hear adding more than 1 location in a title tag is against best practice. Thoughts anyone?

place 1 location in the title, 2 others placed in the description.

or you can shortcut the city names, like NY = New York

Hmm, so you're saying I should include multiple cities in the title tag?

I do include all the cities in the meta description, but I dont think its a strong signal like the title tag.

What about listing the region you serve, if it has a specific name? I.e. "Tri-Cities"?

This still hasn't really been answered, I've posted a similar thread in a different sub forum here.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this for us :)

You don't need to post any city's name on the homepage! just put the brand name on the home page; that will look more professional!

    Cheers
