    Hello guys,

My homepage has been gone from SERPS (google) over 1,5 months. It was climbing nice on the google, I also hit the first page, but then suddenly is disappeared to spot 551 and it has been stayed there for 1,5 months. What is funny is that my subpages: about me, privacy policy etc OUTRANK the homepage.

What I have done to get my site back?

    - More backlinks
    - Added 7 new articles
    - Changed the website structure
    - Lessened keyword density
    - Changed titles and snippets

... but nothing seems to bring back my site. I'm pretty depressed already..

I also sent reconsideration request to google, but they said that everything is OK and there is no manual penalty.

E: My very first affiliate site was doing the same thing. When it hit first page then it went to 500+ and stayed there for 1 month, but after 1 month it popped back to first place. So there is still some hope, but I really don't know what should I do in order to get my website back to top10.

    Thanks

If I were in your place I would have just waited for more time. After 2 months I would have started adding fresh content and changed some keywords combination specially long tail keywords in both content and backlinks anchor text.

Well, thanks for your thoughts. I guess I will leave the site, I will not delete it, but I would like to know WHAT caused this? I'm very curious

This happened to two of my sites. My pages were over optimised (i'm guessing). I did the following to fix it:

    - Changed h1 from "[exact keyword]" to "blah blah [exact keyword] blah blah"
    - Did something similar with the title tag
    - lowered the keyword density from 3% to just over 1%

After about 3 days my sites were ranking for the correct keywords. Since them they have gradually been going up in the SERPS.

Worked for me anyway. May do for you.

Penguin hit on April 24th and a new Panda release just before that. These filters, so to speak, are only run on ocassion. This makes it very difficult to judge what works and what does not work. Check your onpage SEO to make sure it is not over optimized with excessive keyword use. This can be subjective as technical discussions often rely on repetitive keyword use. Your offpage SEO should not be over optimized either. Diversify your backlink profile to include many different anchors, with a focus on naked URLs. By checking your SEO efforts and adjusting accordingly, your site will be ready to recover when Panda and Penguin are run again. Good luck.

Yes, my inner pages are ranking for different keywords. For example, few days ago I wrote article and it's now ranked on the 17th position for main keyword, but the homepage is still ranking on the 500+ spot.

Are any of your inner pages ranking for the same keyword/keywords as your home page was?

This is most likely due to Google trying to help users get to their destination quicker. If you have Google Analytics check where the highest % of users are click straight away (check 1.5months back) it most probably is that inner page.

I recommend ranking many inner pages. Also, diversify your link building. Add Yahoo Answers, add high quality guest posts, and even do some video creation backlinks. It all helps!

That was random article that I made and it didn't get more visitors then homepage. Actually I got like ~5 VISITORs from google per day since, my pages are ranked on the 2-5th page. All the traffic comes from bing/yahoo

Yes, you have to wait. Penguin, just like Panda, is not running all of the time. See the link below. FYI, having inner pages outrank your homepage for primary keywords is typical Penguin. Build some links with naked URLs and domain.com, etc. so you are ready to recover when Penguin comes back by. I recovered one site so far that ranked first page then was slapped by Penguin to 590. It's sitting at 9 right now. Get busy and quit reading so much. Chances are you have an over-optimized and unnatural backlink profile. Make it natural again.

My only two advice would be:

    1). Diversify

    2). Fresh high quality content.

Good luck Op, keep us updated on how things are going.
