homepage dropped from index

OKay this is very disturbing to me. My site is about 2 years old, has been in the index for a long time, and has been ranking extremely well for many competative terms bringing in big traffic...

All of the sudden this morning I checked my traffic stats and they were almost zero! I did a site:http://www.mydomain.com in google.... sure enough every single page of mine is indexed EXCEPT the homepage! What the heck? Is this normal? Is this a glitch? Will it come back? I dont see why everything would remain except the homepage.

Do this.... write an article (350 words or more) on your keyword/keyphrase.

Digg it or have someone here Digg it and see if that doesn't help you get back up quickly.

I would do that but, my homepage has already been submitted to digg. In fact the article is still sitting on front page of google =

write a different article under www.yoursite.com/ten-best-ways-to-use-a-diaper-genie (or whatever is keyword relevant) and submit that to Digg.

Sad i know been there, No matter what you do that domain index page will not rank
Only the subpages will come up in the rankings than just as you think its coming back down there go again

Only one thing will bring it up and thats a google reconsideration request
But find out why it went down first and fix it

yup google can be real bitches but where you doing any blackhat related things like spamming your domain?

Could be a number of things. I wouldn't panic until it's been at least a week.

dont worry i had the same thing happen all indexed links gone , done a reconsideration as nothing blackhat done to site, then 9 days later site was back

I suggest you wait for several days and see whether it will be back.

It also happened to me before and it was back in about 5 days.
