    Hey guys !

Going through some strange results with google. My homepage was ranking for 2 keywords on page 2 and my inner page was working for another keyword on page 1. But its been like 10 days or more, my homepage has disappeared from SERP in google. However i can see it on page 6-7 in bing and yahoo.

Even today my inner page is ranking on the top of page 2 for other keywords but homepage is gone for the other keywords. I mean can't find it on google.

Any one gone through this kind of situation ? I tested with google webmaster tool and no messages there :/

Also i made some changes in the title TAG for the homepage and was building backlinks to the homepage for the keywords i was ranking for. I was all good for the last 1-2 years but all of sudden the homepage is gone :D !

Would like to know if any one of you have gone through this phase ? To make it ever more clear, when i was just learning about SEO i made a lot of backlinks to the homepage with some keywords and i was hit by google updates. But after 3-4 months i can back to normal ranking again and after like 2 years this thing is happening again.

I am working on to fix this issue but would like to know if any one of you have gone through it :D

    Thanks !!

Paid links is your problem homey. A popular SEO company just had the similar thing happen to them. I noticed that they weren't even ranking for their own unique business name in google. Now I look at their pagerank after recent update and its a ZERO. They were a pagerank 6 before this.

They were buying many links and used to rank for very hard keywords in seo world. What you need to do is have your paid links remove and perform a link removal. Do you have a notice in googles webmaster tools?

It could just be playing the bounce game and come back stronger.

In my experience that is a penguin like penalty, Google has seen you optimizing for a certain KW and it has penalized you.

Only way I have ever recovered from that is using a 301 redirect to a new domain but eventually the penalty passes on and I have to do it again. Not a problem though because this site makes $2000 when it is ranking so to pay $10 for a new domain every month or so is still good business :)

The reason your homepage has disappeared but your inner pages are still ranking is because google suspends individual pages rather then domains as a whole unless you got a site-wide penalty in which case you would have gotten a message in GMT.

Just keep on doing seo on the same domain except now just focus on those inner pages!

Are you serious mate ?? redirecting will work ? But i have my domain name branded so the method you are suggestion is not likely to work for me. Also, i am working to get back my ranking but in the mean time would like to know if people experienced same kind of issues :D

sorry im a newbie, but can you please elaborate.

does what you say mean that you cannot optimize a page/pages for certain keywords? i mean, isn't that the whole point of on/off page seo?

    thanks

Forget everything you read above. Everything above is wrong.

Your homepage is overoptimized for its main keywords. You're keyword stuffing (using the keyword too many times) and you're most likely linking to your homepage too often using the exact keyword you want to rank for.

To fix your problem, go to your homepage and start reducing that keyword on it. It should be below 2% keyword density.

Next, start building more links to your homepage, but stop using the exact keyword. Just link using the URL or some other term.

After 48 hours of doing this, your site should be back in the serps. If not, go to your homepage and remove that keyword even more ... going down to less than 1% density if necessary.

Now that sounds like some expert advice ! Thanks

Well, i haven't over optimized my homepage with keywords :). But i think it is the amount of backlinks anchor texts that is putting up the problem here. But i will definitely check with the things that you have mentioned. And thanks for the efforts :)

Also one thing, the site is a ecommerce site and i dont have too much of texts on the homepage. The content is same from the last 2 years but i did made some changes with the TITLE TAGS and it was all ranking well even after that. But after a month of so, it was gone ! like gone ......

Rename your old home page to index2 or something, and redirect the old page to the new one?

When that advice doesnt work start removing your paid links

As I said before thats always the first thing that happens for sites that ranked with paid links.

Keyword density isnt your issue just like you said you weren't over optimized. Start looking at your backlinks.
