Someone was talking about how hard it would be to rank for the term "viagra" so i was just playing around and came across this:

    Google the term:

    "buy viagra trial"

It shows it as a byu.edu (Brigham young university) link, an article from a the site: magazine.byu.edu/viewarticle.php?a=1457

Is this cloaking or is this parasite hosting?

    Here is a screenshot:

Yeah, but its a redirect that the .edu site definately didn't authorize.

Type this into google and it brings up more:

    "site:.edu viagra"

wow, there are lots of .edu sites and everyone of them link to a different pill site. I wonder how they do that. Maybe its their students making a page. I attend a university and we can make our on website and do whatever we want with it. maybe that's what they are doing.

Or maybe its something like your talking about. I dont know maybe someone who does will explain :)

Yeah this is pretty incredible, because those pages could rank like crazy. I know it's not someone who put it on the site though because if you cache the site it looks all crazy. It is some sort of cloaking I'm sure. Probably some crazy smart russian guy.

I've seen that many times and wondered the same myself. While it could be a student, my guess is the crazy Russian guy :) I say that based mainly on the fact that I've seen it occur MANY times and while I'm sure there are college students in IM, probably not that many. Good trick though, be a great service for someone to sell, but then if they can do that, they probably don't need the money.

I'm not really sure it is a "simple" javascript, if you're faking out the search engines there has got to be some cloaking involved or something complicated.

That is my assumption at least.

Yeah, i'd agree but they don't even practice polygamy anymore. And there are tons of EDU sites that have this done on them.

nope, it is, but its not just the ordinary javascript redirect. i once had it in my mail as i done something like that as well, but i dont find it anymore. however, the page you do the trick to, you gotta post some content on it, stuff keywords and so on. then after you see its picked up by google just slap the javascript and it will redirect.

the problem is those websites dont last long. it was a pain in the ass to find them for me..

So do you have to have access to the .edu site?
