I was using HMA Pro VPN service and downloaded a movie via UTorrent. I then
received an email about HMA cancelling my account because they were notified
    about file sharing.

So I can no longer hide my IP with them.

What do you recommend for file sharing?

Are there better services than UTorrent?
And should I be using a proxy?
    If so, where?

I know it's common to download torrents, but since
I am new to this I am not sure where to go to safely to this and be anonymous.

If anyone coulde help I'd sure appreciate it! ;)

Just use http://www.peerblock.com/ and your own ISP.
If you want extra security, find a closed community that shares torrents, and download only from them.

    You have to use proxies.

I just raw dog torrent and it works fine for me.

Don't pay for anonymity because that itself cause you to loose anonymity.

Were you using a server that's located in the US? If so, connect to different servers, e.g. Netherlands. I can also recommend you an offshore VPN service that allows torrent downloading. Check out VPN4ALL, I am sure they offer a free trial too.

Do you need to Peerblock as well as UTorrent?

I downloaded PB just now and I can't see where to download torrents so I am
guessing that you must use a torrent downloading service like UTorrent.

What do you mean by "raw dog" torrent?

So, your suggesting not use VPN services?

Yes, the server was from US unfortunately. I've looked up VPN4ALL but they look down for the moment.

Yes you need both peerblock (to block IPs of recording industry,etc...) and uTorrent to download your torrents.
