So recently i am helping my friend to do backlinks, he has 3 domains with the same contents (duplicated content,shit..) and 2 of them got hit by Google Panda & if i'm not mistaken it is due to plagiarism content and he did not receive any manual actions on GWT.

He's upset now and wanted to use canonical tag on the ONLY domain which still survive. Do you think it's too late for him to apply canonical URL and doing onpage SEO to recover?

just fix the duplicate content issue and apply. they took duplicate content and thin content penalty off from me after 2-3days.

message in gwt will come in 2-3 days too.

ps is ur friend dumb? 2/3 domains with the same content? LMAO

well you can apply canonical but you still ahve to write reconsideration request in gwt. also im sure they'd prefer original content than canonical but you can try with that.

also you will lose power of one domain. if you have 3 domains with the same content and backlinks you could remove duplicate content of them, then use for:
    1. backlinks
    2. filler pages
