Is this even currently possible? Instagram doesn't allow account creation via their public API last time I checked.
Has to be via a mobile emulator as far as I'm aware.

Yes. You can create a bot that creates an account on Instagram. Of course, by using their private, undocumented API.
But few can do it. Because logging requests isn't as easy as it is at the moment, and you'd have to know how they generate the signature attached to each requests..

1. "But few can do it" !== it can't be done.
2. Nobody says about scraping a token. I'm talking about the "bg_response" string that is generated by the app each time you make a request. It is a hashed string composed of different parameters and method plus the current version's "keyword".
3. If that's bullshit then how do some Instagram bots create accounts? By using magic? Or by putting a rabbit in their cpu's and then Instagram accounts would be loaded into their text files?
