So I wanted to rant about something im really excited about. I just recently a couple of weeks ago hired a cook with 10 years experience in restuarants to be my personal cook.

The salaries in the beach town i live in are much lower so I can afford to pay well for someone that does a great job, basically she comes in form 1-5, cooks 3 meals lunch dinner and breakfast, cleans the house, does my laundry and goes.

This seems lazy to some but this is saving me about 1.5 hours a day, thats 12 hours a week of time i get back to do what I want. Also her cooking keeps me from eating on the streets and getting sick with something nasty and the money I save on eating out pays for a large portion of her salary itself.

I highly recommend it if you have the budget and live in a cheaper area or work from a different country.

Ah, Mexico. Heard it's nice but only been to TJ and Ensenada myself. I like your idea. Unfortunately, my wife hasn't taken to housework and she'd feel demeaned if I hired somebody. Still, I can work on it and she makes up for it in other areas...

That sounds like a helper / maid instead of a cook

My brother brought this up Easter while bragging about his maid. I waste about 2 hours every day just cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner then 2 hrs on Friday for shopping that's around 16 hrs a week just on food.

The problem is I spent my whole life watching an Italian mother obsessively prepare my breakfast then drive 90 mins to teach... then race home in traffic just to get home at 6pm & no matter how rushed she was she never screwed with our food. That was the 1 thing that always had to be done "right". And if my dad tried to help her she'd smack the shit out of him.

Now that I'm older I know it'd be smarter to get a maid but I just can't do it. Hiring a cook for Italians is like defacing your heritage. I tell this to my brother too. Everytime you eat your maids food you should just spit it in moms face cause that's what you're doing anyway. And it drives my mom crazy. She's threatened my brother & I know she'd stab us both if I just think about hiring a cook.

Haha yes I know about this used to date an Italian girl damn did I love going over to her house mom always used to cook me amazing things. For me however I grew up with a single mom thhat was always working no time to cook, and when she did she would burn everything all the time. I learned really eearly how to make my own lunches and breakfast before school. My biggest problem was I was eating out 3 meals a week and I caught Salmonella and Amoebas, Mexican food is risky, a home cooked meal is much safer!

How much do you pay for house/apartments in that area?
And is it safe part of Mexico? I am going to reside in South Mexico, never thought about Zihuatanejo, keep in mind just Yukatan

When we went vacationing to India there were maids who did the cooking and cleaning for a low cost. Most third world countries have maids who work in the household.

Damn, sweet. I've looked into something like this before and because it's not really a thing here, it's crazy expensive and you generally pay per head (even for home personal cooking) so it would run you at the cheapest $50/meal (typically three courses) most people only use this type of thing for a dinner party where more heads equal lower cost (still around $35/head at the cheapest which means lower qualified chef).

I too hired one 6 months ago but she got 17 yrs experience and she does the exact same things except the laundry as I got a fully automatic washing machine which does the job very well. She just cooks the lunch and dinner though.

I fired her off just 5 days ago as me and my buddies caught her red-handed stealing stuffs almost everyday. Now these little chores are eating away 2 hrs everyday!

I definitely want to do this, but I feel like it will be way too expensive in the USA.

I work about 10 hours a day and would love to be able to eat healthy to go along with my fitness program...but I just can't find the time to do it.

Anyone have a personal chef in the USA? What are you paying?

If you are specifically doing it to eat healthily, check out the meal delivery services. There are tons of them and you can most likely find ones locally that do this too.

Italians are way too sensitive over food (along with other things). Truth is, the best Italian food I've ever had in my life wasn't in Italy, it was in South Korea. I've been to Italy numerous times and I always felt disappointed by the overall quality of restaurants/food. Thailand and South Korea (and I hear Japan) seem to be the masters at cooking.

Don't get me wrong, I love Italian food, I just don't think Italians are the best at preparing it

no way I can deal with those TV dinners coming to me. I have seen some of those they look like hospital food this way I give her money she goes and picks up all the groceries I need brings it back with the bill so I see everything she spent money on.

Here's what my fridge looks like after she organized all the meals and the portions and here's what I'm eating for lunch. You can't beat this am telling you. My girlfriend hates it though she's super jealous hates anytime I mention her name hahaha. if I say look what a great meal Dona made me she won't talk to me and give me a dirty look for the next half hour haha.

This is good. You save your time and the lady gets some money for her family.
