Hilarity continued. Matt Cutts ranks top for payday loans + X

So, it seems like the hilarious events of June 17 are still 100% in effect.

Google hand edited the search results but did not remove the underlying effects(and the flawed algorithm that punishes US small guys but promotes ebay, wikipedia, amazon and big $$$ brands).

As a result, our good friend Matt Cutts ranks #1 or top 3 for almost any word found on his website + payday loans.

You may check payday loans gadgets or payday loans matt or whatever. The thing is, ANOTHER site was promoted for payday loans, that site was removed by hand from the SERPs, Matt Cutts was then mentioned a lot regarding the episode and.....now mattcutts.com ranks top for payday loans without even having that keyphrase in its text.

Think about how absurd that is. mattcutts.com now ranks for payday loans gadgets. Enough said? Go check it and some variations before they hand edit that too.

With all the money he's getting sucking off big brands, he could easily get into the payday loan niche. Prob and inside job :tee:

Hilarity not included... its just sad and indefensible really.

Let's face it. They have abso-fucking-lutely NO IDEA what the micro effects of an algorithm change are.
It's all about macro effect management. The algorithms (plural ) and other routines that are run at intervals now all intereact with each other in a way that - when applied to the enormous complexity of the internet - no one human brain could ever hope to understand at a micro level.
As Google adds layer after layer of complexity and more and more independant sub algorithms like Panda and Penguin, this complexity increases EXPOTENTIALY

He probably spits on his finger, holds it up to the breeze to see which way the wind is blowing, says a little prayer and presses the "start" button and sits back wondering what sort of clusterfuck he's created this time.

They have found one solution that works for them (for now till peole get sick of it - by people I mean real Google users not SEO's) and that is just promoting a page full of Google products and Google advertising on page 1 and fucking any real search results onto page 2.

He should know that a plan like that has a limited lifespan. It's like buying a TV set and watching a channel that only ever shows trailers for programs it never has the time to air....becasue of all the adverts for programs it doesn't have time to air.....

In other words a self incestuous marketing "circle wank" that people will get sick of sooner rather than later.

I feel sorry for the guy really, he's only doing his job and as the face of Google everyone takes out their frustrations on him. It's the anonymous men in suits and the techies sitting around a board table making all the big decisions which affect algos and he's the one that bares the brunt of the abuse from all directions which is really horrible sometimes. I couldn't do what he does for all the tea in China...

One thing it tells me is that despite what some people say (about google manipulating search for their own motives) their algorithms have the final say - which is comforting because it means if you got the right method, you can rank. Period.

I feel fine with an actual algorithm that is set up correctly making these decisions. But when Google can decide on its own what is best for people to see, and hand edit the outcome where does it stop?

Presidential races? Well most of us at Google doesn't like one guy in the race, we'll make sure that only stories that show him/her poorly rank at the top... But, we do like the other guy, well we'll make sure that any scandals he/she has ever been involved in are buried on the 5th page of nowhere, like if he/she where friends with former terrorists, went to a church for nearly 20 years that preaches hatred for America, maybe his/her past was so cloudy no one knew anything about it, maybe that he/she went to countries that no American citizen was allowed to go to, all kinds of crazy stuff could happen...

Hmm... Maybe that's not what could happen... But what did happen???

What a brave new world we live in.

FFS the whole thing is a shambles, but at least the algos work according to how we want them to eh?
