I know the effects of Pagerank on SEO are negligible, but last year I wanted to increase the PR of a new site on the next update so it looked a little more trustworthy. I paid for a high pagerank blog commenting service (the service provider is irrelevant). 4 x PR7, 5 x PR6 and 10 x PR5. They did a good job back then and I manually checked all the links and comments.

8 months later, out of curiosity, I decided to check the report again. Not a single link suck. Zero. Some were deleted, some sites returned 404s, most had just disabled comments or links in comments.

So don't waste your money on them. They might increase your site's PR (and value) but it will just drop again next update.

You are right. My statistics shows that after 1 month ~50% blog comments are still online. After 1 year I don't know yet. Maybe 3%. It's more profitable to get 1000+ blog comments blasts.

That's one reason why I do not do High PR blogs. High PR blogs are usually very well controlled, and even great comments get disapproved if they have a link. If I don't like links on my comments, why would others keep them?

Also most blog comments are no follow, so you probably didn't get any PR transferred to you at all. Also the problem with nonsense blog comments is that they won't stick. It's better to just harvest some high pr blogs and leave some RELEVANT comment that would stick.

I don't pay for high PR blog comments and I usually add them to moderated blogs. More than 70% of them are still up after 1 year or a half...Was I just lucky?

Great advice that I wish more would follow... :)

I just did a run of PR 1 blog comments (about 200 per site) I now hit page 1 for a made for clickbank site and made $90 over the last 4 days with an investment of about $5 on those comments. Another site went from page 7 to 2 for a client another site from 4 to 1 for another client. (2 of those sites are almost a month old) 1 of the KW's gets 20k local searches p month and since it is a CB product I can generate revenue from all over 33K Global searches...1 of my 4 sales was from Canada.

So yes, my competition, please disregard blog comments for the sake of my business.....

BTW SEO is a pretty constant game, sites and links get deleted you have to stay on top of it unless the competition is pathetic.

I noticed this too. Many blog comments will often fall off and become useless after a certain period of time. But I take the perspective that I know this is going to happen and that SEO is a game that requires consistency. When I make High PR Blog Comments, I expect that they'll stay there for atleast a couple months. They don't cost much and can be replaced easily. As long as I consistently create new blog comments to replace the ones that fall off my seo portfolio will continue to expand.

I have the mindset in which I expect my links the fall off, the game is that I must make more than the #that falls off, that way my # of online links will always be increasing.

You could always pay for new monthly high PR backlinks, so after several months, when your old paid for ones drop off, you still have plenty of high PR blogs with your link on them.

Of course blog comments will fall off, especially ones that are paginated. Anyone that expects otherwise will be dissapointed.

Is it still worth it to buy them? Yes

You really can't expect blog comments/blogs to be alive for long time.
A classic example is the list you might have. Try to post on say 10k list today and try to do it 1 week later, you'll see the difference in your success rate as half of the blogs/pages must be deleted by that time. So, hoping for these links to stay for long isn't justified.

Rather this is true for all the links (forum profiles, web 2.0, article directories, directories etc. etc.) and not just the blog comments. Since, all the links are built on other people's sites, those links are at their discretion. Whenever they want, they can take these down.

Solution would be to build your own blog network and keep it alive for as long as you want.

    Thanks

    Completely agree..

The best way to get (almost) permanent links is to build your own networks. Either blog networks, or Web 2.0 networks..

You must have to update the links with the passage of time, after 8 month your website content is also old and you need fresh content to increase the SERP or ranking.

Blog comments never stick with my sites no idea why, sometimes are kinda needed for the rankings but definitely I'm not investing $ in them like I use to, but they are still one of the backlinks that are on my list.

I agree and respectfully disagree. Not much is moving my sites like high PR manual blog comments, so I do it. Once I build a diverse link portfolio, I throw high PR blog comments in for juice... hasn't disappointed yet.

Well duh, they're spammy blog comments on high PR sites that most likely get cleaned up frequently. The best way to raise PR via blog comments is to constantly blast the site with them. Even if the domain is only a PR1. OBL matters too. Anything with more than 50 OBLs normally doesn't give you anything worth taking and even that is on the higher side (30 is preferable from my experience).
