Why exactly are some PBNS hidden? Can't Google bot still see them?
Yep. Only software crawlers are blocked. The Google bot is still allowed so the link gets picked up.
Then what is the point in hiding them?
Google can still crawl and see the link. Only bots from Ahrefs, Majestic etc are getting blocked making it hidden for analyzing in software.
No thats why they are called 'hidden PBN'. LoL. The point is this 1. You block all the crawler bots from Ahrefs, majestic and other software. 2. You dont block Google bot so it sees your link. 3. Google crawls link, and competitors dont see your hidden link. 4. WIN-WINAnyway you can see your competitors hidden PBNs?

Well, most of the PBNs are Public Blog Networks. Because if they were private, you wouldn't know about them in the first place.

Hidden PBNs are not hidden on Google's end, which makes it one of the riskiest ways to rank a website. Also, this search engine is monitoring sites with PBNs for penalties. On the other hand, it can work well for a website since it's one of the most significant ranking factors. Furthermore, you can try alternative ways like renting or buying links.
I thought PBN was Private Blog Network.
So most of the "PBNs" sold here are considered "Public"
Let's say I want my money site to benefit from a Private network; does that involve buying a good metric domain?
