Seriously, you can go a lifetime without hearing mate unless you watch
a wildlife documentary. So how in the world did it become so popular
here to spam "mate" when doing business?

I'm around British English speakers all the time and they don't spam mate every sentence.
Some BSTs here have "mate" in every single reply. It's hilarious.

I never hear mate unless I come here.
inb4 every post below says mate now lmao. (Don't let me down.)
Face the facts...we have a mate problem. It has eclipsed the infamous "sir".

Take care mates! Bye mates!
To your success mates! Happy travels mates!

One should master playing games and mating, mate!

I can't take seriously someone who calls me "mate" or "bro" while doing business.
Immediately fired.

It's not a pet peeve and I am sort of joking but making a valid point it's getting ridiculous.

Have you ever made maté for your mate before you mate?

Sober up mate and get back to us on that one.

IT's just a common way to greet other people I don't really see much of an issue with people doing it.

If you want to hear a really interesting or funny greeting let me show you how Weegies or people from Glasgow do "Alright ballbag?" "Alright hen?" "Alright big man"

I understand it's common in Britain and by all rights fine when you greet someone.
What is redundant and hilarious is 15 replies to a sales thread with "PM sent mate."

Go walk your ferrets lest you give them more ideas...."PM sent Ballbag".

Take care :)

I can understand but to be fair I don't really work with many English people so me being called mate is not that common overall for most people instead call me Highlander or Tsar or dude as my guess words for me.

I just took one for walk he got into a few interesting experiences such as he pushed open the Tennis court door then decide to inspect the hole for some reason.

Another really interesting or kind of funny weegies say to be this. Instead of saying"how are you ?" they say "Are you Pure Mental mon?"

Watch Still game if you never seen really good TV show based in Glasgow

Thanks Take care back
