Hello everyone, nice to meet you all.

I just spent the past hour browsing this website and nothing makes sense to me, so I decided to create an account and see if I can learn some things. (Am I even in the right section? What I'm looking for is more "newbie" than "introductions").

I'm in my mid 20's and have only ever worked real life 9-5 jobs. I have never made any money on the Internet or even thought about doing so.

I recently started a blog and youtube channel where I talk about things that I'm interested in and give advice on things I know about. I started a couple weeks ago and have 3 subscribers and 200 views, which is basically nothing, I know. My goal is to be making $1,000 per month by the summer; I have no idea whether that's realistic or not, I just chose a number that would satisfy me give the amount of work I'm going to be putting into this. To be honest, I was motivated after seeing how many 16 year old girls have millions of views simply talking about their life and clothes and makeup. I feel like my content is so much higher quality and if they can do it so can I...

Anyway, I searched google on ways to bring traffic to my website and youtube channel (and ultimately turn that into money) and ended up here at blackhatworld. This seems to be a very popular forum and I am optimistic that I will find some useful information here.

As I said, I'm completely new to this and nothing here makes sense to me, so I guess for starters I'm just looking to be pointed in the right direction on where to begin my research.

Also, I should mention that I googled "black hat" and apparently it means illegal hacker stuff (sorry if I'm offending anyone here; blame my ignorance) and that a lot of this stuff is risky (can get banned from sites, etc.) What I'm looking for is the clean version, lol... am I even in the right place? I don't want to use any methods that are less than 100% legit, I don't want to buy subscribers, I don't want to violate any terms of service, and I don't want to use any tactic that even has a remote possibility of getting me in trouble from anyone, ever.

I haven't posted this on any other website because I'm hopeful that I will find some useful advice here. Thank you all for reading.

Welcome to BHW! $1,000 per month is more than realistic if you put the effort into it. You can find more than just "illegal" methods here. I actually use completely "white hat" methods. You can hire a freelancer from here to help drive traffic to your channel/blog, which will give you organic subscribers and visitors who are interested in your content. You need to do a little research before hiring just anyone, though. A lot of those freelancers use bots and other types of automated software to drive traffic and those are what will get you banned. Make sure you read every single review before buying a service from someone. Send them a PM if you have specific questions. Take a look at the White Hat SEO section in the sidebar as well. It contains more useful information than you can read in one sitting.

Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions. I don't mind helping people out when they at least seem to have put in some effort to do some research like you have done. :)

Sorry I've been busy with work. Thank you for your reply. Yes, I will definitely do lots of research this upcoming weekend. To be honest, I'm not jumping up and down at the thought of hiring a freelancer; my idea was to make money not spend any more money. I guess I could look at it as an investment if the potential for returns is there -- there has to be other methods though? And traffic is only half of my concern, the other half is how to convert that traffic into income. Remember I'm not selling any products or services, but I'm happy to hear that $1000 is realistic.

Thanks again, I will definitely study hard and take this very seriously.

Welcome to BHW and do not let information overload get the better of you. The Internet is still just text, images, audio, and video, held together by code. Marketing is marketing, Volume vs qualified leads, cost to aquire etc... One thing that can catch you up is to start chasing "tactics" and not chasing YOUR goals.

Figure out what you want, find the customers who can give it to you, find out what they want, and trade. That is business.

Most people have a hard time with this as they view it in reverse, starting with a product, trying to sell it, then trying to get more customers, then hoping to have the time and money for a real life after expenses are paid.

There are many "shiny thngs" here. Don't chase them aimlessly.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not selling any products or services. I'm just uploading videos of my life to youtube and writing in a blog. (Like I said, similar to those 15 years old girls' "outfit of the day" videos that get millions of views). I know that my quality is good... I just need to figure out how to 1) get more views and 2) convert that into money... without any "tactics". Nothing illegitimate, I'm putting in the hard work and I just want to be rewarded for my efforts.
