hey guys im depressed. Got any advice?? Can't find any.

    I've been searching through the lounge for a few hours in hopes I could find a thread of someone else who is as depressed as me. Not many threads on depression. Haven't tried looking on google yet but I might do that if I can't find any BHW threads related to depression. Let me know if anyone has any methods for increasing my happiness. God bless.     I have a method.
    When you are feeling depressed look at somebody worse off than you.

    Well there could be a lot of reasons for feeling depressed but mostly it's spiritial I'd say. A lot of times I get depressed because I spend too much time on the computer, but try to take a break from whatever you're do so much of, relax and take your mind off of things for a day or two, listen to some nice relaxing music, meditate a bit which all helps to relax.

    I always feel so great after exercising, like my body is pumping out feel-good hormones or something, plus I sleep much better too. If you don't workout regularly you should see if it helps.

    I guess it's time we make a section about it :)

    depression is mainly caused by hopelessness. you don't feel capable to improve aspects of your life you aren't happy with. if you feel you have no control over your life it makes you feel like shit.

    I'd start by creating a list of everything you are unhappy about in your life. then write out an extremely detailed plan on how you will improve these aspects of your life over the next year or two. even if it's a long term goal to turn your life around start working on it right away. once you actively start improving what you're unhappy about depression will be gone.

    if you want to research search depression NLP techniques.

    Okay, so you are depressed. Chances are, like many of us here, you spend too much time on the computer. I would suggest that you take a 2-3 month vacation from anything IM and computer related. Learn how to do some impressive things. You should start working out; when you have a better appearance, you will feel more accepted, hence less depression.

    Of course there are spiritual needs, but if you feel it is a chemical imbalance try this:

    1) Take 2 - 3 grams/day of Omega-3 fatty acids. You can use fish oil, or go for the vegan alternative of algal oils.

    2) Take SAM-E. Start out with 400 mg /day and see how you feel. You can ramp it up to 1,600 mg/day.

    3) If you're in good shape, do 1 hour hard cardio/day. If you're not in good shape start walking daily to get into good shape.

    4) If you live north or south of 35 degrees latitude get a full spectrum sun lamp, AND take 3,000 IU of Vitamin D /day.

    If you try this, check back and let us know how it goes.
