1. First of all, I figured out top pages with the help of Google webmaster. Top pages are those pages which are already getting good traffic from search engine.

2. I updated them (As we know there is always a room for improvement). After updating, I notice many keywords are gone from 8 to 1, 2 positions.

Now it sounds what’s the new in this. We all know about updating.

But does we update our old posts?

Only few of us are really using this SEO strategy. There are too many posts at all of us blogs which we didn’t bother to check after publishing.

It doesn't always work. It's a mixed results imo. Sometimes the serp went downhill after updating the content, and sometimes it's improving but still it depends on your keywords competition.

Another way is using ahrefs to check the top pages, top shared content etc.

Great tip. Only around 20% of a typical site's pages get traction on Google. They account for the majority of your SE traffic. A little tweaking can go a long way. You can take it to the next level and publish more of the same type of content and interlink them.

You can increase traffic further by interlinking the other pages of your website to those high traffic pages.
