    Hey all.

Now I've looked high and low for an answer to this, on G and here - and I'm stumped. Stumped so bad that I have to do the thing I usually hate doing... asking for help.

    Here I go.

All my previous blogs on hosting, no probs. Always rock with WP.

The 4 I'm working on now, started off okay, no issues then suddenly the images I uploaded, the images that make up the theme, AND the images that show in the WP dashboard are missing!

No idea. I get broken links on the site and blank spots on the dashboard (like the create/edit post icons and stuff)

I'm pretty sure it's got something to do with my .htaccess file, and a string that I've missed - but there's nothing on the webz that helps me. A few questions from other people with the same issue, but no answers.

Now I KNOW that BHW will deliver. ;)

FYI, the pics uploaded fine, the permissions are fine. I'm frickin' confused...

    C'mon :)

This is hold me back from whackin' out a few blogs. I'd be stoked if I could get some help...

When the images were working, did you move the images or any other files to another folder? That may be the reason for broken links.

as for the .htaccess, sorry man. It's over my head, but for the benefit for other experienced users, what exactly did you change in the .htaccess file?

just 2c here - if running your own cPanel on some sort of VPS/dedicated environment, you might have the webserver running under a different username than the one used to upload the photos. check owner/group rights on the folder and files, might help.

You can try to use another ftp client software especially if you're using filezilla maybe it's the cause of your problem. Try to use another ftp client.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the tips. I'll give them a crack when I get home tonight and let you all know how it goes.

If it's still FAIL I'll post the site address.

(I'll PM the .htaccess strings if someone wants to check 'em out...)

    Funny.

I change back to the original theme and I still have no images showing.

When I say no images I mean -

    *No images I've uploaded
*No images that come with any of the themes
*No images in the Wordpress dashboard

Makes me think that it's not Wordpress at all, but probably an issue elsewhere...

Ok the site is - geek-gadgets.net (don't have any articles up yet)

Here is the part of the .htaccess that I think deals with it... I THINK.

Would be great to get this resolved, a million internets to the person who helps me out! :)

    images are in place
but server is not allowing to access them
    must be some .htaccess issues
remove this line from your htaccess file
    Code:
    RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp)$ - [F,NC]

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

    Hmm... I'll try it now.

That line was chucked there for a gallery2 site I have going. The pics were broken in that before I added that line...

I'll change it now, and check the page...

...won't be checking the gallery2 site here at work, 'cos it's adult related... ;)

Thanks heaps mate, yeah it works alright - I'll just have to check my other site I put it in for to see if it has stuffed up those photos now.

When I contacted by web hosting service they messed around with my .htaccess and one site I mentioned to them started working. I wonder how they got just that one site to work and not the others, with that line still in?!

    Hmmmm...

You can rename .htaccess to something else like .htaccess1, this means that your site is not using .htaccess. If everything is fine as it should be, then the main problem is really with your .htaccess setting.
