    Hi guys,

I am considering buying an old domain which is about to expire and use it for setting up a private blog network. What are good sites, and most importantly what are the things i need to look out for. Also if I buy an old domain is it oke to set it up as a new site? So fresh wordpress installation etc?

Yes, you can setup an old domain name on a fresh Wordpress site. The fresh Wordpress installation won't make any difference. In this case, the domain name is all that matters.

Well, first of all, congratulations on considering using a dropping domain for your private blog network.

With said, you might want to study the backlink footprint and equity the domain currently has.

Things may look really great as far as the age of the domain goes, but you have to understand that age is just one factor.

You have to also look at the overall quality and context of the backlink footprint of the domain you're considering.

You have to remember that domain relevance is crucial.

While you can benefit somewhat buying a domain that is for example related to baby shoes, but your main target website has nothing to do with baby shoes.

To get the most bang out of your buck, you need to find something more relevant, more tightly related.
