    ---- THREAD CLOSED 06/23/2013 ----
Currently 'm running a very successful site that making more than $30k a month i was happy with my MAIN Source of income until last night.

i have received an email from a company that claims they own trademark of the first word of my main keyword and the same is first word of my domain. I KNOW MAIL I GOT IS LEGIT AND THEY HAVE TRADEMARK OF THAT WORD.

They asked me to shut down the site immediately that i did at the same time i i have moved my site to another domain but the issue is my site is till listed on #1 for my main keyword so my content. I have exact same content and database on new domain which is not ranking at all but it has good PR.

now the question is 'm confused here if i redirect my olddomain.com to newdomain.com is there any issue of trademark ?
i hope few of you guys will help me to get rid of this headache.

    Thanks

thats a good question.. for me I would re-direct and have something on the site saying "Sorry we have moved to a new domain due to copyright issues"..

Depending on the issue they probably grace you a time limit to change your domain.. take full advantage of it... (i think they need to give you a minimum of 30 days)

I don't think so, the old site, youtuberepeat, now redirects you straight through to listenonrepeat, so they obviously had the same issue.

It depends on how good their Attorneys are. Typically what I do is do a domain redirect but not the home page. I will make an html home page that says this site has been removed please visit us at newdomain dot com. So the main indexed link only shows html page saying site is down. All other pages direct to identical pages on new domain. If you're lucking the Attorneys don't see it and you'll get traffic and money from all links except home page.

If they do catch on then you must take it all down.

I would also make sure they legitimately and internationally own the trademark in your industry.

Trademarks are usually registered on a country by country basis and only for a specific industry.
For example "Walzawitz IT" may be a trademarked name for IT products in Australia, however another company could use the name for "Walzawitz Pies" as it's not related or in competition and is in a different industry.

Also another company could have the name "Walzawitz IT" in America if the Australian company hadn't registered the trademark in America.
For more examples google Apple Trademark lawsuit, ugg trademark.

Don't take my comments as legal advice, I'm not lawyer, but don't forget to research and protect yourself too.
