    Hi,

I plan to go into the MNS route but am not sure of the best options I should go with. Hope to get some pointers and opinions.

    1) Does having keywords in sub domain, sub directory or page name helps a little in terms of ranking your site? I know EMD is better, but say I do not have a EMD, does having keyword(s) somewhere in the URL will also give my site/page some extra boost?

    2) Is doing SEO for a particular page in your site the same as doing for your main site, in terms of effort and results?

    I have this plan....
Instead of building many 1-2 pages mini sites across different niches, I'll choose a broad niche example sports. Then I register a domain maybe 'allthewonderfullsportsinfo' and create the website( with wp of course). Then I would create pages of different micro niches related to sports and promote/backlink them individually.

This way, I will always have partial matched domain instead of having to register lame domains like jumphighersite or jumphigherblog or jumphigherxyz. And I would save $ on domain registrations as well. I believe that the traffic and link juice will overflow across all the pages since they are on the same site. If I keep working on the site long enough, it would eventually become an authority site right? And I will have a better feel and knowledge on the trends / marketability.

If the answers to my questions are both positive, my plan/theory would make a lot of sense wouldn't it? Need some advise.

    Thanks in advance.

    1. yes, it helps
    2. no, it will pay but not the same
but overall your plan is good, and most assumptions are correct, assuming you know your work. BTW, thats not really MNS...

    1. Yes , you should def. include your kws in your url but, don't go over stuffing.

    2. It's similar in terms of effort required but, typically your home page will rank better. (unless you build a lot of links tyour sub page)

Overall, you seem on the right track.

To answer question 2: You rank webpages, not websites. So, if your website's homepage "page" is a place where you want to send all your traffic to, then you would work to rank that page. If you wanted to send traffic to a "services" page for example, then you would work to rank that page as well. At this point you might could say, "i am ranking my website" If you think in terms of ranking individual pages, you can expand your net of traffic opportunities.

You should almost always think exact match at the page level for SEO.
