Help!: Phrase based penalty

Guys,

I added 200 backlinks to my site within one day with anchor text "free credit report" , my site was #39 for that term.

2 days later my site is deep down burried under tons of other sites for that term. Any chances that my site will regain its previous position for this term?

Is this only a temporary effect?. My site is not in sandbox. I can find it using site: and info: plus the site still ranks for other terms that don't contain term "credit report"

Update: It has been 12 days and my pages are still deep down buried. How to get out of this situation fast?

I think it's just the google two step, keep up the backlinking and other seo work and it will come back. Bear in mind though if your site is new it can jump the rankings early on then drop down, this is quite natural.

Also known as the google dance. This is the term used to describe the movement google puts a site through. I have never heard it explained but it seems that evey now and again a site will drop from say page 2 to page 8 then back to 5 before returning to it's original position. You can try the search feature on this site and the term "google dance"

The Google dance is a good thing because it will help you in determining the index update in the Google search engine. It is quite reliable since it is updated every month or every quarter, i think.

I have similar problem.....if i search on google.com my page is not listed in the top 1000, if i search in google.co.uk....and other extensions my page is listed in the top 10 or 20.

To be honest, free credit report is a very large niche, you will need more then 200 backlinks to stay high in the ranks.

I already have 1000+ links pointed to my site with various credit reporting keywords prior adding those 200 backlinks. I was # 39 for term free credit report, the funny thing is none of my anchor is "free credit report".

My anchor text was "free online credit report" "free credit report online" and combinations of them .
