Hey. I have a website in the digital marketing niche.

We are DR46 and have over 175k words published, but still getting little organic traffic. Any ideas on why this may be?

Appreciate this is vague and probably needs more information, happy to provide it. Just trying to rack my brains/ get ideas on what to do next to start getting good traffic.

Or do I just need to be more patient? Haha.

Cheers.

will you search for the topics that you have posted as content?
if you would search for such terms, are your content pages ranking?

if you get search interns and ranking, you can't have low traffic

There could be a lot of factors like poor quality of content, high competition, penalties, keyword cannibalization etc. Moreover, DR alone won't be enough to understand your link profile. Tell us your DA and TF for better understanding.

DR can be manipulated, so I wouldn't trust you're really DR 46 until I see a good backlink profile.

Also, 175K words don't mean anything and don't guarantee any traffic unless they target the right keyword/written well/optimized well.

Hire a professional (not cheap one on fiverr) SEO and let him audit your site.

There are sites with 150k words (or less) with 0 DR (literally no single valuable backlink) receiving 100k (or more) traffic monthly.

There also are sites with 150M words (or more) with 60 DR (or more) receiving no traffic at all.

Yes. And no.

This is the problem, I guess.

Fair point. We have links from The Sun, Metro, Vice, Mailchimp, Feefo, etc. So I would say a pretty good backlink profile.

Agreed, not saying it should guarantee traffic. To me, the content is top quality, but it's not ranking.

Another good point. Where from?

Why is this?

Thanks for the response. I don't think the content is poor quality. I'm guessing in the digital marketing niche, competition has a lot to do with it.

As far as I know, no penalties and no keyword cannibalisation. But I may be wrong.

DA - 23
TF - 14

how do you define the quality of content has nothing to do with how the search engine sees it.
it's high quality in human's eyes but it's not seo optimized so it is poor quality in search engine's eyes.

Keyword research is the solution. You compete for tough keywords most likely. Try low comp longtails.

We all know SEO doesn't depend on one or a few factors. It takes into account 100s of various factors. A good audit should be enough to find the issue.

Create a thread on the hiring section, do your research on each applicant. There are many incredibly skilled SEO's here on the forum as well as shitty ones. So, DYOR.

Why is this?
Again, too many possible reasons. It's not like your steak doesn't taste good because you either added too little salt or pepper (or maybe a few more options). But when doing SEO, you cannot say what exactly is causing the overall bad result not looking at the site.

This is normal. Based on the metrics, you have very little chance to rank in digital marketing niche. I'd suggest you to either target low comp keywords, get more backlinks, or drive traffic through social media or doorway pages.

Appreciate it. I know the DA isn't good enough yet, but don't know much about TF and what it means, etc.

What does it measure? What's considered "good"? thanks.

You can do more work on Keywords, Check your targeting keywords and also competitors keywords, on that based check PR ranking, also check your proper Meta details, build quality links with High volume keywords, and check once again.
Mainly check New visitors and old visitors number. mainly you work on your high volume keywords
