    Hi friends,

What's the name of a data compression software (like winzip, winrar) which compresses many times more than those other similar data compression applications?

I tried on G, but was unable to find a suitable one. Many months ago, I had seen/read about one such application which had the ability to compress files of sizes, for example, 800 MB to almost 4-10 mb only (not sure about these figures, but it was about that much).

So can you please guide me to such a software, or even give the name of such a data compression software please which would enable me to take some huge backups immediately?

I need it to take some really huge data backups immediately, so please help me find it ASAP.

    Many Thanks!

What you were talking is the KGB Archiever!

Immediate? KGB takes a life of time for compressing and extracting :D

Thanks a lot! I thinks that's the one!

I know it was written about that it takes "a life time" to do the tasks, but I will try and do smaller backups in trying to cut the life time short. :)

Will find it now. Any other such brute zippers please?:)

    Thanks & God Bless!

    P.S.:
For others needing it, it's here:

Unless you can manage the size of your backups with RAR or ZIP archives, you are wasting your time. extremephp means it when he says a lifetime. Just buy a big external HDD, or buy some more server space for your backups.

I can also do that, but I need that sort of software now, or I risk my harddisk to fail by tomorrow... Don't even have that much time! :)

    P.S.:

It is real damn slow (even for a 100 mb folder)!!!!... :(. I'll better run to the market now and get a box of blank DVDs... :)

BTW, How can I allow someone (my son who is on a SW project in a different city :)) to access some folders on my harddisk remotely? I think he can quickly find out what's gone wrong with my PC if he get the full access... Both are using Win XP SP3.

But we both have never actually done such remote 'accessing' before...

    Thanks again.

    Check out http://Www.Teamviewer.com :)

Install it on your PC, and tell you Son to install it as well! :)

Once you run the Software, you get an ID and Passcode! Share it to him, and you have a screen sharing session :)

Thanks again! I was just chatting with my son and he too told me to download and install teamweaver. He said he is experienced in using that...

BTW, do you live "up there" among the angels? :) I think so because you are really trying to get me out of troubles... God Bless! :)

There is also logmein.com which has free options. The Rescue version (I think it's that one, it's one meant from remote tech work) has a trial version and no need to install, just download and run - when finished you just delete the exe.
