?

What would you do if you had a manually penalised thin affiliate site?

  1. Submit another reconsideration request

  2. 301 redirect the whole domain

  3. Wait for the manual penalty to timeout

Hi guys, happy new year to you all!

In August of last year one of my sites was manually penalised on Google. I believe this was due to being a thin affiliate.

I know that the site was manually penalised because the day before I received my first and only visits from Mountain View, CA (my site is UK based).

I drastically improved the quality of my site (plenty of high quality content, etc.) and submitted a reconsideration request in November. This request was denied due to the site still not meeting Google's webmaster guidelines.

At this point I gave up

With a new year I was wondering what you guys think I should do and why (if you had a manually penalised thin affiliate site)?

    a) Submit another reconsideration request?
    b) 301 redirect the whole domain?
    c) Wait for the manual penalty to timeout? (as Matt Cutts described in his video a while back)
    d) Stick to giving up?
    e) Try something else (please describe)

manula penalty could be for any number of reasons so you need to check your webmaster tool to find out if you have any messages.

    1) Check your site has no errors, malware, spammy incoming links, excessive use of keywords, cookie stuffing, excessive use of affiliate links, duplicate content, more than one site description (some Wordpress themes have the error) too many H1 tags etc etc..
    2) Add new content
    3) Buy Edu backlinks
    4) Add better quality links.

It's worth noting that I did all of the above before submitting my reconsideration request.

Thanks for the advice, my site is actually only 150 pages in size so isn't ultra spammy, I don't use product pages only category pages (eg. blue widgets, small widgets, etc.)
