help needed!! co.cc domain

guys
i just signed up for a co.cc domain 2 days ago..but it is not active yet..
how to know that it is active..

or else should i buy a domain ".com or .net" .how can i know that the domain is active if i didnt add any page to the site..

and how many days it takes for the domain to be active..

If you wish to do serious business on the web, it is better not to go for free domains like co.cc to avoid unpleasant surprises. co.cc wants you to buy their subdomains, so their approval process has delays; and one day, all of a sudden you will find that you do not own the domain anymore!
