Hate to tell you the bad news but we can get pay as you go phone numbers in the UK for 50pence.

If you sent it by bank transfer, he will have pulled it already but its always worth trying your bank to see if theres anything that can be done.

Why wouldn't you go to the police? What makes you think we can solve your problems.

Also, whatever you used to send money from and the platform you used to buy the item - start with those places (assuming the cops are useless).

Without any info ( name, IP, address ) it will take many many months until they have something on this guy. Secondly, banks in UK don't provide name, surname, address of acc holder for the police ( unless money was stolen from the same account. )

OP - If phone number starting with 01 ( +441 ) then you can trace it. If it's mobile phone - say good bye to ur money!

If it was a mobile number, forget it.
If it is a landline just put it into google.
How do you know he is in London?
If you post further details we may be able to dig a little further but unlikely.

Protip for people trying to avoid being scammed on ebay uk. Scammers always list the location as London. They presume it adds credibility.

Just file a chargeback right away. If he already pulled it out of his account, it should go into overdraft and he will owe his bank money and a fee if it puts his account into a negative balance.

Banks ain't allowed take money, under banking regulations, even if the bank account owner is thief/fraudster. Although banks are allowed to freeze / close bank accounts after 'fraud' transaction is reported, but it doesn't fit to this case.

And there is no thing like chargeback when we are talking about FPS. ( faster payments service. )

If you paid by bank transfer then obviously you have his name and bank account number plus his phone number. Ring him and tell him you will be handing his details to the police.

I never give my real name when someone is transferring money to my bank account. You can enter BLACKHATWORLD with your sort code and acc number and still, transfer will be successful and immediate.

Yes but his account number is linked to him no matter what name he used.

Yup, but the problem is that other banks in UK aren't allowed to give owner details to police or other bank ( when bank is filling fraud complaint ). But when the thief and buyer account is in the same bank then police will be handed with all required details.

Also, in UK, when it comes to fraud cases, only SOCA have rights to access bank account details. ( but soca works only with huge cases. ) Police officers can get bank account details ony if magistrate ordered to show, which rarely happens in small fraud cases.

I doubt its legal to trace cell phones in the UK. You probably don't want to break the law trying to get your money back it may land you in more trouble then it's worth. That is assuming he was smart enough to cover his tracks to the point where you would be doing something illegal to obtain his location..
