do you have the same content on the sites?
you should NEVER duplicate your content on your own website
go change your content
Yes i have had the same content, but i have published on my website first and than on squidoo.... I am going to change it right now.... anything else I could do?
Update: Soon after removing content from my squidoo lens, my website sky rocket up I am now spot 3 for my main keyword and spot 1 for my second keyword I guess it realy did help to remove duplicate content and reping the site. Now I just hope I can stay up there. Do you guys think building 3-5 backlinks a day will be enough to keep rank 1 (its a low competition niche)?
Build more links to your site.
One last question: is it okay if I add more niche related lenses to one squidoo account or should I use a new account for every new niche? Thanks!
how many would you suggest to keep my rankings? I dont want to look spammy and risk getting banned or removed or whatsoever by google. I think for that small competition niche, 5 should be enough.... but please let me know how many you would suggest? Thanks!
change your keywords a little bit or try removing some tags.
thanks for the tips! but the main issue has been solved already (my main site is rank1 and rank 3 now ^^) Now I am just wondering, if I should create a new account @ all those web 2.0 services to promote another site, or can i use the accounts I have and simply create a new lens/ a new hub etc for each new niche i want to promote ?
When you rank first for a keyword and have useful content, manually building links is really uneseccary if you have had the spot for a while, like say 6 months. So keep building 10-15 links every other day, do some commenting and bookmarking ETC.
After this long you kinda become the goto site for your keyword and you will get REAL natural backlinks in which people link to you when they write about it, which is best case scenario and you won't need to build links anymore just monitor your ranks every week or so to make sure you are still on top and getting all the traffic you need.
Google will try and cite the original source of the content. really, IMO, they do not do a very good job with it. I've seen them make the wrong version of the content the original source many times over.
I would rewrite the content on your site (since you can't set up a canonical tag on Squidoo I don't think), build some high quality links (like Dangazzam said) and make sure you have all the on-page seo components nailed down on your site. Link to internal pages, not just the main site URL with other relevant high ranking pages. Use your keyword as the anchor text (but use variety so it looks natural), and keep new content coming out on your site on a weekly basis.
You can use the use the same account but if the 2.0 sites are one's that look down on bookmarking your own stuff, get another account and use that.
Thanks a lot for all your tips. I am going to do like you guys said and report back in a couiple of days - week to let you know if i am still on page 1 or not^^
yep..never duplicate content from your own site
Make more good backlinks for your original site
just make sure you keep the backlinks coming in and you should be able to hold your spot
So, thanks again for all your help guys. Now I have kept building 4,5 backlinks today but my website has dissapeared from google. I do not even find it anymore when searching it directly. Webmaster Tools still says its indexed though...... So thats probably just some serp dance and the site will be back in search results next days or do you think I have been building too much backlinks on a short period of time and now I am punished? ... sry for my bad english ^^
No1 has some experience to share with a website dissapearing from rank2 within 12 hours? Will it ever be back?
Keep on posting new content and ping your new sitemap to google webmaster tools whenever you change the content or made a new post. Mention your sitemap location on your robots.txt. Check your website on Google webmaster tools fro any errors and rectify. My experience on new websites with keyword rich domains are the same you experiencing now. But, I was able to attain the same #1 position by posting new content, changing the content on the frontpage frequently. Building links only will not help for new websites. The more number of different thematic content will definitely bring your website to #1. Also try all the linking methods continuosly.
That's where Google is full of it.... it's a ridiculous situation many businesses end up with.
