help me monetize this niche...

i just turned 21, so i'm legal to drink now bitches. but here i am monday night .. me and my buddy want to go out, but i dont know of any website that list bars or specials for the week.

i'm sure i'm not alone and that more ppl would want to go to a website that had bars on it..

now first off my area if filled w/ bars .. tons of them, and w/ tons of ppl that like to go out to get drunk ... i can get domani name "whereilive"-bars.com

i would obviously just make a site that has areas of advertising on it that each bar can use ...

what do you think? what would be the best way to monetize? and how can i do it? do u think it would be profitable?

Called offline-marketing.. Search it and you will find quite a bit of info, more than I can put in a post..

The ideal though is, either doing local niche directories selling listings per$per/month. Or getting into the social aspect and doing actual SEM for companies.. Refer to the first sentences.

I just created a site like this for my area but for restaurants. Charge $50 a mo for ad spots...make them a profile with video pics etc

Would it work? Yeah, probably. But IMO it's a lot more effort than it'd be worth.

I had a site a year or two ago (drunklocals.com) where I was going to do something similar, but after the time it takes to schedule meetings with bar owners, discuss prices, and all the other BS, I realized it just wasn't worth the effort.

Does it pay off the work involved?

I've had a lot of ideas with that sponsored listings trick that I could realize in various niches for my local area, but I'm somehow reluctant to do something about this and try to realize it.

Of course it works. You just have to do the work. Face to face selling and door to door is all I do. Its the only thing that works. Be persistent, if the owner aint in, then come back in a few days. You might have to go into a place 4 times before you get them. Persistence pays off. Most ppl are lazy thats why things like this dont work for them.

I designed my own site in Dreamweaver and am using it as a template in my other cities.
