This is possibly a bit of an odd question for BHW, but I thought I'd ask it anyway since we're all here to make money. Totally unrelated to my IM pursuits, I'm a singer. I have digital tracks that I released free last year (only one is on iTunes), and all the social media fanpages setup and relatively active. Now it seems ridiculous that I haven't found a way to monetise this. In a fit of naivety, I gave away the music and asked people to purchase the track if they enjoyed it. Many fans did, but there's no way that it even began to cover the cost of producing one track, never mind the rest, leaving it an extremely unprofitable venture that I quit simply because I couldn't afford it. If you had four high quality tracks that you owned the rights to, with great reviews on music sites, etc, how would you make money with iTunes? How would you get exposure to the one track that's available for sale? I've thought of creating some say, Vampire Diaries or Twilight videos or maybe a 50 Shades of Grey "trailer" with the iTunes track as the backing music and then linking to a purchase. Can I use any black hat methods to do this or to push a video to go even mildly viral? What are your thoughts?
