Yeah I know my fault, should have been more careful...

Still it sucks!!! An Indian "student" scammed me for round about $10k on Flippa. However, I have hope - he signed a contract + scanned his drivers license for me, but I don't know how to get him in India!!!...

Could anybody of you guys give me some advice? Experience? How do you go after a guy in India quickly? If here in my country I would pay him a visit..... but India is far...

Please if you guys can help, any effective sort of money collection way in India? My initial thoughts were annoying him by blocking his phone line with calls all the time + maybe post to parents (actually may be a great idea - for sure parents don't want their young student kid be a criminal?!!)..

On second though I had the idea to ask here if some of you guys have experience / can help to get this "done" legally and quick as well.

Anything, advice and so on would be awesome, thanks guys!!! I promise I never make this same mistake again!!! However, I still want back what belongs to me, my money!! ;)

Fingers crossed BHW has some answers, cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't flippa have a way of getting the money back from a scammer? Surely they have a duty to help you?

There are more than 315 Million(as of July 2015) students in India. I would like you to not mention 315 Million people are all cheaters at once. However, I would like to help you out in any way I could. Please PM me all the details (as well as the drivers licence copy) to start the investigation, I could possibly find him and even file a police case as one person is creating a bad impression of millions of people.

P.S. I am an Indian Student.

Go to india and snap the arm and leg of every student you see until you find your man.

Or maybe just consider hiring a PI in India to find all his details and speak to their law enforcement office. I'm not sure $10,000 is worth any time in an indian jail...

Your money is most likely gone.

I'm pretty sure the ID he used is fake, you can get that pretty easy these days.

Police in India wont do much either.

We all get scammed at some point online, just gotta roll with the punches.

i am from Delhi,India too. but i think there is high probability that the license he gave you will be fake.
and police in india wont do anything unless you gave them the scammer address.. You have to file a court case against him

Prove it here that he scammed you. What exactly he done? Else say sorry and delete the thread. If you don't want to post any proof then you have no right to call anyone scammer in open forum.

Anyway, first report it to flippa. Then use those documentation to file a police case in your country and use the copy of that police report to file a police case in India.

Find some Indian lawyer to help you to file police report and send notice to that guy.

    Best of luck.

Iam from Hyderabad,India.Do you have his Flippa Username,Better Do Search In Social media with those Username. If you can find him, then there is a chance you can find his address.
$10K is 6,00,000+ INR,If you find his address, there is a chance to file a case against him.

First off, @MoneyEagle - I didn't imply all students are like that, I included it just to show he's a young scammer, sorry if that "got you the wrong way", wasn't intended, at all.

Secondly, I won't post details here, it's not only against forum policy afaik, it's also not "my way" to out people in public.

I have found him with his real name on several websites he owns, so might even be a real drivers license, even if that, looking at it now, would be a stupid move of him considering his intentions to lie and steal my money..

Not sure if $10k are worth it in India to get into trouble, but I sure know young people have the "feeling nobody can do them harm" and that seems to be the case..

What do you guys think about the contact parents idea? (if I can find out, what would a PI cost in India?)

I also have the feeling police might not be of that much help, but I don't know how corrupt they are, or if it's just a result of them not caring about foreign crime that much. Just a gut feeling, I would think a private collection agency makes more sense, if there is such a thing in India? Any URLs you can maybe direct me to?

I'm not letting this go though like "asap1" suggested, $10k is not a fortune, but enough to care about.

I just looked at the drivers license, it even has his fathers name and address in Jaipur on it, is that normal in India? Or is this his address and the "son of" part is just the fathers name, not the fathers address?
