    Tankall,

It is really tricky to gauge your placement in SERPs using organic search. Google's algorithm is so advanced these days. It recognizes a user's location based on IP address, it can serve up results based on social signals in Google Plus and other social media sites and it can also serve results based on the country that a user is searching from. Try using a third party tool like Rank Tracker or SEMRush.com to see how you size up in SERP's. Google web master tools can also give you some limited data on your average placement.
Here is rank tracker. The free version allows you to do a lot, you just can't print reports or save them.

    hope that helps,

Use a rank tracker and that way you can't get confused with saved searches but don't use proxies otherwise it won't be accurate for your location. The results will vary depending on which Google you use - google.com will give different results to google.co.uk. Obviously use the one most relevant to you

True. Like the others said, the only really safe way to check your SERP is via an external source. I use Authority Labs for all our clients positions since it is not affected by our IP and our browsing history :)

Now Google is producing results based on the country, states and in recent days, Google started listing results from nearest city from the IP address you are searching. Not only, your query, everyone is getting different results when they are trying from multiple places.

The reason, why are getting Top in USA results is, you may get the most of the and social link signals from USA region so that Google can list out your site in the top. In my point of view, Google is trying to give users what they are exactly need. Its just making user friendly searches. When you search globally (google.com), it shows the results of all over the world.

Google is not ready to lose even a single user of it so its always concentrating in making the results better than before. As two seniors told in previous replies, trying third party tools will give you exact position in SERP.
