Wondering if anyone can help me.

I have a site using a Wordpress theme.

I want to add an 'Upcoming Events' page to the site. Basically this would have a list of events by name, date, location etc. Users could sort by date, location (state, city etc), event type and the results would be displayed.

Something like this (but not for running races - more like social events):
    Code:
    [URL]http://www.therunningbug.co.uk/Events.aspx[/URL]
Anyone know of a good (preferable easy to use) piece of software that would let me either convert an excel spreadsheet with raw data or add data as if I was just adding it to the database.

Preferably some software that involves minimal HTML coding.....

    Thanks in advance

I haven't used this, but was considering it for a site i'm building. Not sure it's quite what you want, but may be close; It's a plugin that integrates google calendar with wordpress. As far as i know, you can import excel/csv files into google calendar.

    http://code.google.com/p/wpng-calendar/

Or you can just embed google calendar as an iframe in your page without the plugin.

Are you using your own hosting or a free wp account through their site?

If have your own hosting account, with app vault or fantastico, you can add wordpress to your own site and create the features that way for what you need, installing your theme of choice directly into the system.

That gives you the ability to build an onsite database and to use the wp events calendar plugin that is included into that system. That plugin allows you to download/extract any of the database information, as it is in your hosting system. You can pull it out as excel, cvs, or text....however you want.

It works great for me, just depends on the purpose of the blog. Depends on your purpose of the data being collected and processed as well though. I work strictly mainstream and white hat on my owned properties so, keep that in mind. Otherwise, it should do what you need fine.
