One of my regulars (Dave Ashton - well done Dave :) )

Sent me the following email. Please take it in the spirit in which it is intended. Those of us with VA's (friends in many cases) in this part of the world, and those who want to support the relief efforts, the links are at the bottom.

Peace to all

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the email as I know you as busy as hell, but after all the news about the typhoon in the Philippines and knowing alot of SEO guys hire Filipino workers, is there anything we can do individually or as a whole?

My VA is located in the least hit bit, but says if the rain doesn?t subside soon where she lives, the street are going to flood and have started to. Her husband?s family is in the worst hit part and no contact as yet.
At this point, I can only donate through the websites below or see if I can help my VA in anyway I can. (practically, its a donation or short of hopping on a plane.)

Is it worth even a post on your blogs to push other SEO?s to donate something?
I will post on SEO forums today to see if there is some response, but personally feel responsible for my VA in some small way, even if its a token donation.

Just wanted your thoughts on this and possible ways forward.

Aid agencies.

Agreed. Donating is the best way forward - all the agencies right now are saying the just need cash, so they can direct it where it needs to be.

Please, FFS, only donate to the 'big ones', not these helpful looking websites that spring up in times like this.

In behalf of the Filipino people (I know many from here are too), I would like to extend our deepest thanks. It was a tragedy on a scale we never imagined, and as of now there are still many areas non-accessible to help, power lines down, communications down, and the only way to get through is by air. Typhoon Haiyan is the strongest typhoon ever to make landfall.

I'm doing my best in every way I can, and it's just so heart-warming to know even the IM community is also doing the best they can.

Thank you so much.

Here are more ways to help:

Direct donation to the Philippine Red Cross

Unicef PH

Donating is a great way to show support.

They will be needing ongoing support as well, so where ever you can, directing work to VA's over there will help them as well in the long run...
