    No I'm not;

The only reason why I'm creating this post is because I think it's pretty sad to see kids paranoid about money at such an early age and I would like to create a thread for its discussion (Im talking about the 12 yr old kid "iwannamakemoney" thread).

Fair enough if you are 16 and you think its worth your time to start making money -no comments if you actually need to- but seeing kids and teenagers (with supportive and economically stable families) aiming to create fortunes by forgetting their everyday life is a real pity.

I have coached loads of kids and it is actually a great experience to see them becoming something positive for this world; seeing a kid/teenager trapped in front of a computer with the sole aim of making money its something pretty sad.

If I had a son that age i'd slap him out of the computer so he would go out and do some sports/meet people etc. Socialising is far more important than making money while trapped in a cave.

I saw a reply saying "why you reply negative, so jelous, etc..." and with all honesty, I think its plain sad to see a 12 yr old kid with the aim of making money. If you are going to encourage a 12 yr old to push it and make and effort to make money you are just out of your head.

If you are going to reply "jealous blablabla" please refrain yourself from doing so as I am not jealous at all, I am really happy with the way my life has been and the direction it is taking. Just think it is far more positive for a kid to be out and about than to think of making money...

The worst posts are in IM journeys: 16 year old - Goal to $100/day

Who gives a shit how old you are? How does that factor into the method?

Teenagers these days tend to be split in 2 different groups: Party people and computer nerds.

As a party person, a teenager will go through several drugs, unlimited alcohol and possibly create criminal records. I don't see how that will help him/her in the future.

As a computer nerd, a teenager will either become an addicted gamer, or a "hacker"/coder/webdesigner/internet marketer. Gaming is a pure waste of time, but all the other possibilities will help him/her decide what they want to do further in life, and they'll have plenty more time to dedicate to expanding their skills in that specific area.

And I don't see anything wrong with that. I'm relatively young (I started IM when I was a teenager), and each one of my friends envy me because I have a great future ahead of me, while most of them have no idea what they want to do later in life.

So yes, socializing is very important, but as long as you can keep both worlds (real & virtual) balanced, you'll do great.

Nothing wrong with being young, but it's that age has nothing to do here and the titles are getting repetitive.

Pretty stereotypical to be honest. what about the kids that play sports, excel at school, have plenty of friends, and make money online? Didn't really think of that one did you?

Understand what your saying but who are we to judge? If its a 12 year old kids choice to try and make some money online then everyone should encourage the kid not put them down.. Sure, kids are kids and they should be doing far more interesting things but come on, encourage the youngsters, there's no different between any twelve year old wannabe IM to tiger woods playing golf at the age of 7.. No one put him down and I'm sure his parents were financially supportive.

Better than spending 8 hours a day on gaming I would say :)
Here's my honest opinion (Age doesn't matter):
You can earn at 12, not a problem , as long as you maintain a normal/good social life, then it's good.

But after all, it's not my nor yours to judge.

If a 6y/o suddenly feels like he should copy another and is having fun, I really don't care what his story is. Sorry.

What I don't like is the fact everybody is telling their age. It just don't matter!

A kid can have fun, and if he says the lighter is Superman, it is. If a kid tells me he is The Boss of Internetz: He is.
As long a nobody is forcing him: Who cares. lol

But, I do get your point and agree. Not that IM is bad for kids, it is not, but kids should be kids. If they are not, they should keep their mouth shut just like they would if they were impersonating a kid, not an adult.
People, kids included, can have a hobby, even if that hobby is IM. :p

I meant hardcore gaming, like spending 10 hours a day playing games without going out or doing anything else. Now that's a pure waste of time.

    IM all the way.
All I can say to these gaming/computer nerd posts, is I'll tell you what. I've seen a tonne of lives ruined by people becoming addicted to computers and games.

You might think that spending 10+ hours a day engrossed in the internet/games is a good thing. Hell you might even do IM and make some money. But your money will always be capped. Why? To make serious $$$ you need to start engaging in the offline world. And when you do, your social skills are going to be average-utter crap. To do well in the offline world, you need good-excellent social skills. Its about leveraging people and skills around you; and you will suck at it if you don't build the skills. It is MUCH easier to learn these skills as children and teenagers.

So I say to those people, pull your head out of your arse of "oh I don't have friends because I am great and unique and everyone around me is horrible". No, most people are perfectly fine it is YOU that has the problem with your attitude. Get out there and MEET PEOPLE. You need to be an all-around person to have the most success in money and in life. And if you don't engage in the RL, you become out of touch. The best learning is done unconsciously from experiencing new things. So get out there, experience new things and take that real world experience and use it to learn a lot.

You can escape into your games for 7-10 hours a day. And some might say; hey, if you're happy in the virtual world, why should it matter if you choose that? What is the difference? The difference is that, no matter what, you have to log-off sometime. You eventually have to go to work; you have to eat, you have to go to sleep. When you are away from your computer/games, how happy are you? You can live your life without those devices but you can never live your life away from the "real world". You have to live with yourself in the "real world". Neglecting RL is a ticking timebomb.

    Don't do it.

It is better to start early, by the time u get 16 u can start enjoying teenage life & not spend all days in front of PC...
plus u'll prolly be best in class, u'r IQ will be lot higher than other kids
U'll be able to buy all the iPad & iPod series on the market

    You were saying?

Playing games 10 hours a day is as equally useless as trying to earn money online.

Sure, if you're the 0.0001% of people who are good enough to make money off of playing for sport.

Plus, like with sports, you have a CAP. Your time is limited and your skills will eventually fade. What do you do when your skills fade? It would be much better to invest in say, Magic the Gathering. Even then... shesh.

Competitive gaming sounds awful anyway. It is a slog. You play ONE game and you play it for hours.
