Working as a freelance writer I figured I might as well use my spare time to bank on my writing myself. Actually enjoying the challenge a lot. I'm not entirely new to SEO, way back when I did my Internship during a media studies (we are talking pre 2001) I noticed that the large publishing house I was working for didn't have any of it's author/book site's ranked. So I did a lot of research in how they should be approaching this and wrote a report on it. Cool thing is that the legitimate advice from back then still kind of works. Except submitting to Yahoo or DMOZ. Anyway, hope to learn a lot here and will try to give back where my skills are usefull.

If content is my strength while design and especially programming skills are weak points which area of online marketing is most suited to my expertise?

    welcome to the board then...

...i guess you just answered your question yourself.
...but besides that it is obvious, that you can make some money being a writer and produce content - there might be other ways open for you.

of course the number one thing would be to produce quality content and sell it...
...which you do by being a freelancer. so you could do this for marketers in IM and specialize to earn money on your own - basically doing what you are doing anyways.
...if you are really good in producing quality content and want to step that up - found a buisness and train people to produce content thats up to your standart and sell that. basic upscaling your skill-set.

...another thing that could be a direction for you would be to start blogging and monetize then. if there is something that you are really passionate about - start a website and use your skill to grow it with good content. there you have lots of different income-types. you can choose the one that fits best for your targeted niche.

    you got plenty of directions...
...you could even do something totally different. but you will start with writing i guess. just take a step into the right direction and use this place to better understand. you will evolve and come up with a good working solution i hope.

Thnx for the feedback. I have quite some buyer's for my articles but could squeeze in more i guess (writing tires me out after awhile though and then I switch to other tasks in IM and write again when I feel fresh) Running a content business would be a dream. For now I'll focus on writing freelance and blogging!
