I put in the work and my first functional site is finally up. I have many articles discussing different conditions and the best ways to go about curing them. Most of the keywords I'm aiming for have from 500-2,000 monthly searches. How would I go about monetizing this site? Should I use my amazon associates account to put up some amazon products in the articles or should I use adsense instead? I've noticed that the products on amazon for the keywords I am using are pretty cheap $15-20 so would adsense be the way to go? I'm probably going to test both of these but I'm just looking for some ideas before I start making changes. Thanks for reading.

There is no harm using both of them (adsense and amazon). I have a health-fitness site and i use amazon as well as adsense, but in my opinion, adsense do well when amazon products are cheap.

You can find out products that are a little higher, $50 upward to review or link to. The best part is that when you send to amazon, they might end up buying stuffs of $500+ (another reason why you should add them)

Split-testing is always the way to go here. Try different combinations and whatever works best, keep it that way. There are ways to simultaneously test multiple different combinations. Get a good book on amazon about "landing page optimization".

All right I am going to do both adsense and amazon, we'll see how it goes. I just figured that I should use one or the other, but on the other hand It'll give me a good idea on which one performs better. I appreciate the quick replies, thank you.

Just keep in mind that the important thing here is to make sure you can reliably measure your results. Its easy to think one combination is performing better, when in reality a change in your traffic patterns caused the real shift. Usually traffic is pretty volatile, so just a heads up. Good luck.

If you can find a product from something like this that relates to something on your site, you can make some serious coin. GL

Sounds like you have put a lot of effort in already in creating content and getting the site going with decent volume keywords. On your next site though I would strongly recommend sorting out how you are going to monetize it first. This makes such a huge difference. You can make great money with low-volume keywords if you get a nice commission for each sale and take the time to really lead the visitor through the sales funnel.

In the meantime though, you could certainly put both adsense and amazon links on the site. With the amazon links I would work those into the content as much as possible... like it's the best solution to their problem... adsense might get you some clicks but they really "look" like ads to a visitor whereas an inline link in the content to a product on Amazon doesn't seem like "advertising" as much... but that depends on how you write the copy of course.
