I'm gonna keep this short and sweet (atleast try to..........)

Around this time in 2008 or so, I was sleeping on the train after I got into a bad contract situation with someone. I turned to the net to make sure I would NEVER be fully dependent on anyone again.

I was patient, learnt thru trail and error, and realized along the way that on these internet shits that u get in what u put out, and NOTHING comes overnight. No way around that.

Now, I finally get to do something I've been meaning to do for over 4 years. For what I do professionally, location is important, and there-fore, for what I'm doing, LA is the place to be for me (been to both NY and ATL already).

As I look out the window at these beautiful mountains across the land, I asked myself that if I could go back in time and give my younger self any advise about life (from making money to living well), and the one thing I would tell to anyone is, FELLOW YOUR HEART, ALWAYS!

There is NO FORMULA to success in anything. The only formula that will work FOR YOU is something only YOU can come up with.

So to all u noobs who are still on ur journey, remember, ur creativity is ur BEST weapon. Its not copying what had already been done that will bring u the success u seek, its ur willingness to step into the unknown (SEO, Social, PPV, PPC, whatever u are doing) and come up with ur own formula for success!

I know that is vauge, but the best way to learn this game is thru experience, YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE! As said on this board time and time again, spoon feeding won't help u in the long run. There is a reason why that's been said over and over again.

Good luck, to all of u! I'm off to the next phase of my plan, Have fun!

P.S.- Anyone in the LA area, get at me. I don't know shit about LA, this is my first time. If u can, let me know what's going on around the la scene.

Exxtra- Internet cafe's is what I started on, had no choice. I also sometimes used my phone internet for certain things as well when I was in that situation.

Lagrimas: Was that sarcasm or encouragement? I wanted to ask first before I respond. let me know.

Good Story, one question though if you dont mind me asking, you said you needed to be in LA for what you do professionally, does that mean IM is your second job?

Hollywood lacks such stories, the rags boy who digs his way to luxury with a cheap laptop, open wireless access points, and a brain.
i don't there have been something like this in the movie industry before..correct me if i am wrong.

    Wuz up guys,

Just got a chance to open my laptop (in starbucks).

Sooo far, I've seen a SHIT LOAD of homeless people, LOTS of mexicans (not a racist statement, just an observation. But ofcourse not surprised!), Some silicone here and there, and some paparazzi trying to disguise themselves so they can bombard whatever celebrity they are waiting on!

OK, so you guys who are in LA, I guess your "downtown" is not where its at then, eh?
Or maybe its just the side I'm on, please inform me. (I'm used to Manhattan or Chicago type of "busy", so where is that at?)

Yeah, I seen the lakers game on the TV sets in the airports. Since the bulls won't have another run for about a century or so, I'll be routing for them! Hope they get it this year again.

But yeah, anyone who is here, if you want to help out, please give me the haps on the city. PM me if you must!

And thanks for the encouragement guys. This is my dream I'm going after, so wish me luck.

I don't necessarily call IM a "second job", more like an "investment partner"! Yes, my main thing is dealing with the entertainment industry, particularly music.

Get to 405/Wilshire then go up and down wilshire for a while you find some fun stuff to do. Get off the 405 and head west down to Santa Monica pier or chill on 3rd street for a while down there, then head back up wilshire past the LA Country Club into Beverly Hills. Downtown LA is a little whack but then again it depends on what you are looking to do or what your interests are.

You will have to keep in mind LA is WAY bigger than Chicago and NY when it comes to Sq/Miles so there is not a mass concentration of population in one area really. It's a sprawl ... 90 miles from San Fernando Valley in the north to South of Orange County, and almost 100 miles from Racho Palos Verdes in the west to San Bernadino in the east. You have a LOT of ground to cover depending on what you're looking to do.

So your tryin to tell me you can make money....online!?! I don't believe :)

Great story! Happy for you :) You will love California...I have lived here my whole life and hate to be a dick but its the spot as far as USA goes. Just think about it's history, people flocked here for gold and they still do to this day. Land of opportunity.

    Cadkins, thanks for the info.

nettlestein, yeah, I've got some contacts, but most of those guys don't really live in LA sort to speak. They DO fly in an out to work, but as far as knowing someone who lives here AND works here (entertainment wise), don't know that many people. Ofcourse I'm gonna hit them up, but thats when I'm ready to work musically again, right now I'm just loking to get myself together and settled in first!

On a side note, BOOOOOOOYYYYYY, these condo prices are NO PUNK!! You guys are NOT playing with the real estate out here, are you?

just moved outta LA :( miss it

Theres so much shit to do. It all depends what you like, everywhere is different. I used to live in the South Bay its like chill mellow beach towns.. If you ever watched Laguna Beach you get the idea. Lots of 20 somthing beachbums and laidback to the max. To the north you got Venice which is a beach town but think hippies, crack whores, crazies, stoners and millionaries living in one neighborhood. Santa Monica is pretty nice as well which is to the north of Venice. Its got a bunch of cool shops and bistros to eat. Hollywood is crazy. Lots of clubs and bars its hard to get in if you arent on a guestlist so if thats your scene go early. Long Beach is chill too but kinda out the way IMO...downtown long beach has a bunch of bars and is pretty diverse and not as costly or pretensous as other places in LA.....Downtown LA is going threw changes so its alot nicer then before. Lots of hipster bars if you like that scene

Bottom line you will have fun.just dont fall into tourist traps
