Is this a disaster waiting to happen? Will Google penalize 1 site and all the rest on the same ip. I dont use domain privacy so it would be easy to see which sites are mine. Should I spread my domains over 2/3 different hosting accounts? Am I essentially putting all my eggs in one basket or am I just being a little paranoid?

If you dont use 'anonymous' domains then it wont make much difference.

ps: keep in mind shared hosting accounts host in alot of cases 200+ sites on 1 ip.
People overreact a bit on the whole "oh no to many sites on 1 ip!!", the crappier shared hosts host even WAY more than 200 on 1 ip.

I have 56 PR1 - PR3 blogs on the same hosting and the same IP all. I use them as my own private blog network posting only adult articles for my adult money sites. I have these blogs for over 1 year and a half and my adult sites ranked very well and didn't get any penalty for any of my blog. I've experienced 2 panda updates and 3 page rank updates and as I said before never lost any of my blogs, never get deindexed and never get any penalty

So my personal opinion with different A, B and C class IP's is just paranoid crap.

If you're just hosting sites and not doing anything funny, it's fine to have a bunch of sites on one IP :)

If you're planning to send spam from/to your sites, or are planning to link your sites together in some sort of network/pyramid, you need separate IPs to reduce the footprint you leave so Google doesn't come after you.

what happens when someone starts bitching about one of your sites? Will the hosting company take'm all down or just the one causing trouble?

Maybe someone that runs a hosting company can tell us.

    That's basically my point.

Host a bunch of sites together if you know for a fact they won't get bitched out by someone who's saying your site spams/uses spun content.

If you're not using copyrighted content and are providing privacy policies and TOS, complaints against you usually won't stick unless you're in flagrant violation of another rule.

So if you want anonymity because you think your hat isn't too white, at the very least, buy dedicated IPs from the host.

I think they would only bring down the site people are complaining about.. The other sites did nothing wrong.

Dont know just what makes sence to me

Google doesn't penalize other sites if one of the site on the ip gets penalized. A lot of genuine sites would get penalized if google started penalizing all sites on the same ip as the 'bad' site as millions of sites are hosted using shared hosts.

So long as you're not interlinking the sites they should be fine.

if you do interlinking, your competitor able to find out and report you to google...
If all domains are not doing interlinking then its no problem, why one could not have many domains(niche or non-niche relevant) on 1 host? Doesn't make sense
