Hello Blackhat World first post here. I have been doing a ton of reading over the last month or so and decided its time to get my feet wet. My plan is to build an amazon affiliate micro niche site on one product just to see how everything works and get a feel for it.

I am currently in the keyword research phase of it and I am having a hard time finding any long tail keywords that I would actually have a chance at ranking on. My original plan was to use a product I was familiar with to make it fairly easy for me to write articles and put up original content. It seems all the keywords I am trying on appear first to look good with low seo competition but are dominated by ecommerce sites which I will have no chance of ranking against.

I am trying out the demos of both Market Samurai and long tail pro and getting pretty close to the same results. I am using ubersuggest to try to get some more keyword ideas but most of those have very low monthly search results. For example ( these are not my keywords) ?remote dog pooperscooper? the first serp would be all bestbuy, amazon etc. If I try adding best or review or other prefixes or suffixes either the serps would be all ecommerce or the monthly results would be too low to bother doing any more research

I feel like I am missing something or maybe just picking the wrong products to market or should I just keep grinding away until something pops up.

You guys have any suggestions for a newbie to help me not to get discouraged . Right now I feel as though I have spent way too much time researching keywords with nothing to show for it. Well at least I have a good handle on MS and Long Tail Pro.

Find niches within niches. Micro niche down and then become the authority

Instead of Lose weight, try: California raisin applesauce diet

There was a BST selling low competition amazon +adsense keywords for $5. That might work for you.

You've found some keywords, great. Doesn't matter if they're low volume- start small, learn and tackle bigger keywords when you're ready.

Learn the art of Keyword research, the best tools are NOT the paid ones. I'll give you one free secret, but you have to use your brain after that.

    Spyfu.com + Google Keyword Planner + ?????? = $$$$$

Oh and some more advice, If you're going to buy any one piece of software, make it Scrape Box. Scraping is a big part of SEO.

Thanks for the tips guys. I think I might try to niche down some more or just start with one of the low volume keywords. I have a day or so left on the demos not sure what I am going to do yet with that .

I recommend Ultimate Niche Finder, it has been pretty key for me. I hate buying software, I always get buyers remorse, but UNF has been the one I've stuck with and found actually did as advertised. It's in the BHW marketplace, check it out.

Remember that even if you do not rank first place or high in the SERPs for your keyword does not mean it will not make you money and once you start making money you will be able to run more competitive SEO campaigns.
