I enjoyed it! Excellent performance by Redmayne. And a sad sad story.

I enjoyed the movie, although I have to admit that t wasn't what I expected.
Being a History Channel kind of guy, I thought it would touch on more things
related to Hawking's career as a Quantum Physicist, but it was more of a love
story. Nevertheless, it was good entertainment. :)

I didn't like it. Couldn't understand half of what Hawkins was saying once he got sick. The movie was a total downer. Plus you also realize from the movie that Hawkins wasn't all the he was cracked up to be. All he really did was say, "blackholes emit radiation" then he got famous cause a bunch of people felt sorry for him and gave him attention I highly doubt he would have received if he was healthy.

In fact, his robotic voice is more memorable and distinguished then all the shitty theories he invented which he later just wound up disproving.

I just wasn't impressed by the movie nor am I impressed by Hawkins himself.

I was hoping for the same thing. It was well worth a watch but Hawking's professional achievements are far more interesting than his love life.

He is a remarkable man for several reasons. Firstly, he has outlived his life expectancy by about 40 years. Secondly, he is able to describe aspects of physics in a way that non-physicists can understand, this is why he is famous.

I don't think its fair to say that he is famous because of his disability, its because he wrote some well received books. That's like saying Brian Cox is famous because he is British.

I'll agree that he was an accomplished man but if you really read about him as a person he's an inflated, narcissistic, arrogant douche.

He really didn't discover anything noteworthy. His "Hawking Radiation" was already conceived by Russian scientists. All he did was steal their work then put his name on it. So he's not just an overrated douche he's also a con and rip off artist. Then there's all the shit his wife did for him. Taking care of him for years just so he could cheat on her with his nurse then wind up leaving his wife to marry her. His wife described her role in the marriage as "I always had to remind him that he wasn't god".

I genuinely believe he's just another overrated douche same as Chris Kyle from American Sniper.

I've watched it. I expected it just to be a bit more about Steven Universe theory and about that, but it turned out to be more a romance/drama type of movie. Well after all, movie was done based from Stevens wife point of view (autobiography), so that makes sense.

Anyway, it is good movie to watch, great act IMHO.

I admire his spirit, whatever else people think of him. May be because I am real close to 2 very sweet boys, 20 and 19, who are cousins (not related to me, they are just neighbors to whom I am like a maternal uncle which they never had -- those uncles never lived beyond 25, and I too never had a nephew or a niece of my own), and they both are suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), which I think is as debilitating if not more that the ALS, that's what what Stephen Hawkins has, I believe. I wish there was a cure for these types of disorders...

Guys, if you believe in, please pray for these 2 very close families. Stephen at least has managed to lived, but these guys are suffering since they were about 4 or 5, and no males in their family (maternal) have lived beyond 25. Please pray silently for them and all others like them to get a cure very soon...
