Have you heard of Yik Yak?

    Theres this app called Yik Yak, for IOS and Android which is like sort of a local, anonymous twitter. You post 200 character messages and people vote them up or down. At any time you can see any messages posted within 10 miles of you (based on GPS). Big on college campuses so I understand. No way to make money off it that I can see but interesting nonetheless.

    I read about this recently.

    I think it's a great idea and clearly got a lot of traction. Apparently in one school, within 1 hour of the first person installing it, almost everyone had it - now that's some good virility!

    Unfortunately, being anonymous, it seems to have been used in schools for a lot of bullying.

    I read the developers have implemented a geo-blocking system around schools to stop the bullying.

    It reminds me of 'blue-jacking' which was a bit of fun years ago when mobiles first had bluetooth.
