Hi guys, here is a screenshot of my rankings for a middle-high competitive term in a foreign language. Site is 4 months old.

22 000 searches per month and I managed to get to position #18 for the home page at 20th of august.
Then it dropped gradually as you can see in the screenshot below...

Even if I only used great PBN's. Nothing spammy. Only clean sites and unique articles on them.
Anchor texts are a mix of keyword related, exact keyword, branded, and url...
When I've seen the drop on 21st of august, I first thought of an over-optimization penalty so on 27th of august I added 1 branded anchor text...
Then as you can see, it went back from pos #62 to #45 then now it seems to go down again...

    Screenshot:

Should I add one more branded anchor text and let it marinate for a week or two ? Or should I do something else ?

For me it doesn't look like Google Dance but I may be wrong so I need some insights here...
    Thanks guys!

I can not help you but...
This happened to me, 5 days ago I first noticed I was falling slowly for many hundreds of KW, then 3 days ago my number of visits to a website literally split for half.

The last 3 days I just follow what's going on and I fell on average for one to five positions, which is not terrible but it certainly reflected on my traffic.
I rank for many words and this figure is constantly growing, something is going on but I'm not sure what it is.

My advice, some things we can not change, we want to know the answers which is totally ok but we can not change them, in my opinion.
I focus on work and more work, if this continues for a month or two, I'll for sure ask myself what's going on.

Otherwise, I keep seeing more and more similar threads, people wonder what's going on, mostly many of us fall in big G for some reason.
    All the best dakkidb

You can give it some more time - a week may be and check how it performs. Instead of adding backlinks whenever the position drops, keep it natural. Build certain number of backlinks every week or so. This will make it appear natural.

Moreover, this fluctuation is common for most websites in the process of trying to get to page 1.

Thanks Harizd, will wait one week or so and see what will happen. Will also try to build my links more naturally...
What's the name of this fluctuation btw ? as it doesn't look like g-dance... :)

It doesn't look like normal google dance. It's possible that your website got hit with google's latest quality update. If you're absolutely sure about the quality of your content than wait and see what will happen. Your website is only 4 months old, it will jump all over the place from time to time. And continue to build links, however, if you don't see any improvement after building links than it's pretty obvious that your website has been hit by panda.

A little feedback about this as it's interesting for everybody I think :

    1) The page targeting the 22000 searches went down again to #76 today !

    2) BUT : Some pages are still ranking : 1 page targeting a 1600 searches is #8, and all the other pages are all #19 !

So it's only this page that targets 22000 searches per month keyword that is on spot # 76. See picture below :

    update1.jpg

As you see, even if I built 1 more "branded" backlink last week this particular page dropped really low.
And on contrary, the other pages are keeping their ranking (as you can see they dropped last week but went back up).
See picture below for the rankings of my other page targeting a 2900 searches per month keyword from the same website !

    update-other-terms.jpg

    - So my question is: why is this happening to this particular page and not the others ? Is it because it's competitive ?

    - If it's a Quality Penalty, can I just change my content and be back up in no time ?
Weird thing is, the content on all my pages were done by the same writer from Elance that I paid quite well to get unique content,
and all my articles have the same structure, same style, same keyword density... Or they may be more strict about quality when it comes to competitive terms ?

    I'm kinda lost here.

Could more SEO masters give their thoughts on this ?

    Happened to me as well.

    What you can do:
Remove your latest backlinks (yes, the PBN ones) and wait. Your rankings should go back to normal after some Google Dance (maybe takes about 10 days until you see ur previous rankings). In the meantime you can make some Web 2.0 backlinks with URL or Branded Anchor. No Keyword Anchor. When everything seems to be normal again, you can start to add PBN links, but do it slowly! No hurry.

    Hope it helps you.

Hello Nakamura, Thanks for your reply on this case...
For you it had to do with the quality of the PBN links or because you sent your PBN links too quickly ??
Will try your method and will post an update after 2 or 3 weeks. BTW, my links were all built with an interval of 5 days minimum.
    Cheers

I've read everywhere that you should never remove your PBN backlinks (only if you find later that your PBN site was spammy) as it shows up as a footprint to Google... Your take on this ?

Run an on-page test and see If you can optimize it again.
If it didn't help then remove new links.

I have seen the same thing with 1 of my sites but it's back after changing on-page.
