I have blogger blogs with its own domains. I've also read articles about hosting blogger blogs to hostgator but they always forget to mention the most important detail. (at least for me :) )If for example you have transferred your blogger blog hosting to hostgator. How can you add content to it later? They said that you can still sign in to blogger, does it mean if they add more articles, you basically add it on blogger and hostgator will automatically host it? To the experts over there, please enlighten me. :) Thanks. :)

I think they mentioned about pointing your custom domain to blogger, so that you do not need to pay for your monthly hosting. There are several videos on youtube help you do this, just do a search.

For moving blogger blog to hostgator host, I think you need to backup your blogger first and then use any plugin to import the file/info...

I also use blogspot hosting for free!

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, that what I have, custom domains in blogger. But there are sudden reasons why someone wants to host one of their blogs to hostgator. My question is, if I have successfully hosted one of my custom domain and all its content to hostgator, how would I add content to it later? All of the tutorials I've read forgot to mention it. That's why my theory is, since they said they can still log in and access their blogger blogs that was recently hosted in hostgator, does it mean that if they decided to add new articles on that domain, will they simply sign in to blogger and publish their new articles there and then afterwards, hostgator will automatically hosted it? That's my theory but I'm not really sure, so I'm asking. Someone there might know this?

Never heard of things thats been said in OP. Blogger blog but hosting on Godaddy. i just don't understand.

If you want to host your blog on hostgator then you need to install wordpress then backup and migrate from blogger to Wordpress

    Code:

hello thanks for the link. It was done actually by other bloggers but can't ask them since they don't reply on their comments. If I'll just know how is it to add content when I host my blogger blog to hostgator, I'll do it. Wordpress (php) is slightly complicated for me. I only know the basics. I am more at home using xhtml. But, if I don't have any choice, I might as well try the tutorial of switching blogger to wordpress. That means reviewing and studying php again.

    No it doesn't.

Blogger is a hosted blog platform. Wordpress can be installed on hotgator in about two seconds and all your content moved across from blogger using a plugin.

No php required and about ten minutes work.

I think you need to educate yourself on your confusion about the platforms you are using.

You don't need PHP Knowledge to start blogging on Wordpress Platform... As said above it takes seconds to install wordpress with Quickinstall or Softaculous from cPanel.

I would recommend you to stay on blogger platform and enjoy Free hosting, Nothing Wrong in it. But in the meantime start exploring & Learn more about wordpress and how to selfhost blogs/sites.

Hi. thanks. that's what I am doing. And I am confused because I didn't try it yet. I'll just experiment on a new blogger blog, host it on hostgator and see what happens if I add content on the wp admin.

thanks again. if I want to use my own template I might want to learn php more than just knowing the basics.

And I do enjoy blogger. But I can't have my own forums using it and my own download sites. For article site alone, blogger is great.

    What you will need to do is;

    - buy a hosting package from Hostgator (or any host).
    - remove your custom domain from Blogspot and point it to Hostgator ...

OK you know what, forget it. Just google "migrating blogger to wordpress" or "switch from blogspot to wordpress"

Blogging on Blogger is fun because it's simple (and free). Once you tried Wordpress, you're never going back.
