If you paid with a credit card most surely you will need to send a copy of your ID to ccinquiries at godaddy.com

You probably left on of your proxies on when paying at godaddy, that's usually when they lock down your account for verification.

I think that is a verification check for fraud.

Godaddy did this to me as well. I sent them my id then when they freed my account I transferred all domains out immediately. They're never gonna see another dime from me.

Online companies are getting into the identification business, google, godaddy, facebook, etc....they want real personal data they can use. The government issued ID thing is just the latest of godaddy's history of terrible customer support and the latest in the trend to extinguish online privacy.

Get out of godaddy while you can. You have been warned.

Ok i called them , spoke for like 8 minutes (it will cost like 8 domains for calling from my country :D ) and they told me , that this issue might have happened because i'm not in the US or my card may be flaged for some reason (that is not realy possible), then they asked me if i want to reply to email with the id or they could just fill the form , so i said fill the form :D and they will contact me and bla bla so its not over yet. But yeah, i guess they are just asking for more data from users :)) God i hate this.

ID verification is the most basic thing. It might be annoying, but it is for the best. I would always prefer to work with a company that protects itself and its users from fraud and identity theft.

Same happened to me when I purchased some domains with my credit card. I took a photo of my ID on my phone and uploaded it on my computer and sent them a copy by email - had no problems at all since then. I didn't have to provide any information about what I was using the domains for. I like using godaddy auctions to purchase domains so that's why I stuck with them.

I don't understand why this is happening with you. I have never faced such kind of problems with Godaddy. I think you can contact with their help center.

I think something is wrong with godaddy.

Though I didn't face something like this.

Here is what I went through:

As soon as i bought domains within 24 hours I received spam emails from atleast 5 for web dev and other crap.

I had booked 5 domains all with different id, and payment method just to get the advantage of the coupon.

seems they share your info, infact sell it!

it's a godaddy's bug guys..try clearing your cache, try using the browser with the least amount of plugins/addons, it occurred to me five times using an overweight firefox browser, but i never had any problem using chrome
