Have site. Where the heck to I begin?!

I've got a ticket website that I'm able to generate some traffic and sales using craigslist. This is obviously not sustainable in the long run. I'm looking for more organic traffic.

I'm nowhere to be found in the search engines. My pages are indexed, but the competition is very strong in my market. I know that I'll probably never be able to compete with "Bruce Springsteen Tickets", but I feel that I can probably compete with some smaller niches and long tail KW's. The problem is I HAVE NO CLUE where to even start.

I'm looking for some kind of plan or process that get me on the right path. Any help is appreciated.

So far I've come across seobook.com. Not sure if that's a good starting point or not.

im actually working backwards from where you are. a lot of ticket brokers pretty much have a corner on the serp market, but that doesnt stop me from stomping some of them into the ground, and some of their tactics are down right SPAMMY. Anyway, im going to start my CL campaign in a couple of weeks.

The best advice i could i give is research, research..research. be an authority on what you're selling, otherwise it will come across as spammy crap and no one will click. pick a niche (something you know, like, and can easily talk about).

seobook is a good start. the new toolbar is pretty badass for checking up on what the competition is doing.
