Have anyone actually ranked some subdomain?
For example if I want to save $8 each time registering new domain I could instead just use one main domain and add for each keywords I want to rank just a new subdomain on domains I already have and then build backlinks/content to them?

Have anyone done something like this and how were the results compared To real domain VS subdomain?

    thanks!

I have ranked subdomians before, and I wish I never did it, cause I did it piddling around testing and some how it got indexed and back links to the sub domain etc, what a nightmare for me. But your doing it to be indexed etc might work, only way to know is to try.

I tried it and it is a nightmare. Takes ages nd 10 times more work to get them ranked, and you will only rank if you are an expert in SEO

Subdomains don't rank as high as domains. Getting them to rank for highly competitive keywords is very hard.

You would be better served using inner pages as oppose to subdomains.

    site.com/innerpage Trumps subdomain.site.com

I wanna ask about this structure..site.com/innerpage

innerpage - like making a new subfolder that act like a subdomain where later can be expand more or making just a post..

i ranked few subdomains for my client,

i have to say that some of them got indexed faster than the main site,
but again it was in the same niche so i bet that the SEO work on the main site
    helped a lot,

never tried to rank a subdomain id different niche and im not suggesting you to try this, like nuffman said its a nightmare, iv'e few co-workers who try that and without any luck, but again its really depends on the niche and competition.

I have tried to rank with subdomains, but had not very high success. I think that with same effort and same backlinks with a domain I could rank higher...

My subdomain has stopped on second page and it's there for more than 2 weeks now. I don't know how to push it forward.

YES subdomains can be done just like reg domains.
Why is there even a question about this.

I have done this and continue to do this.
with .info domains at that. and they rank with no backliknks.
(no competition on most of course)

    With backlinks they dominate .coms
Most all of my domains are subdomains.
This is the secret that the rest don't want you to know.
    personally I don't see what's so hard.

There are plenty of .info domains Dominating 1st place on google over
regular domains. (subdomains I haven't run into too many except mine)

    I have maybe 2 .coms

That's how I found out it works because there was somebody in the spot I wanted and it was a subdomain on a .info.

    interesting. but everybody teaches different.
    Oh well.

One easy way to save money on bulk domain buys is to registar using the "Bulk" feature of GoDaddy. you can buy 21 .info domains for $0.74 each, which comes out to about $15 for over 20 domains. But subdomains hypothetically can be used for good in some scenarios, depending on what you are using them for

I have had great success with subdomains, but in my experience (thousands and thousands of subdomains over several years) they do take longer to index and rank than a main domain, but once they are indexed they can perform just like any other domain.

One other thing is subdomain performance does vary a lot depending on the main domain they are part of. For instance, subdomains under a PR4 5 year old domain will be easier to index and rank than subdomains under a brand new domain. Like everything with the search engines, the more trust you have the more abuse your domains will handle.
