I have a very nicely designed and crafted product with a website and checkout platform with it. However, Facebook's suggested bid for my ads are $5/click. Is e-commerce profitable when using Facebook Ads for traffic? My product is priced at $115 and costs $60 to produce and ship, so I would have $55 to spend on ads to get one sale. Would this leave me with a positive profit? Open to any advice.

Don't trust the suggestion bid, its the estimate cost for the beginning when you just start running your campaign. Most of the time, the cost would be high and will lower after 3-4 days running ads.

If you optimize for conversion, the cost will go down after you get around 10 - 50 sales
If you optimize for website click, the cost will go down after you get around 50 - 100 clicks

But if your product or your advertising message suck, try to change it or do split test, there is no guarantee the cost will down if your relevance score is low.

You will need to use razor thin targeting to target exactly the bunch of people who are likely to purchase your product. This can be based on gender/age group/location/interests (most important).

I would recommend conducting a very thorough research on your target market.

You need to calculate specific figures: Budget / day = how many clicks and how many orders / day. With the cost of production, transferation + advertisement fee, the profit you can gain is not high, you need to optimize ad campaigns again to CPC decreased, OR push the budget / day climb UP to increase orders up, so you get higher profits.
