Have a mixed martial arts fan page with 1600+ real fans...monetize?

OK, OK. I know it's small fry, but it's still growing, and I'd like to try and make some money off these guys. At least enough to afford hosting for the website that is down right now! :stupido:

Any thoughts? Hope this is the right forum, and I know it's not as much as a lot of you guys with 10k+ fans and followers, but darnit, I'm still new at all this and even had made a few $150+ pay checks from Adsense before I ran out've money for hosting the few sites I had making money.

(Long story, yes, I should be able to afford hosting with those checks, but I'm fighting for custody of my 4yo, and it's sucking me dry financially)

you can monetize by becoming an affiliate for mma training equipment,mma apparel ...i think you can find these on amazon ...

Best way is to write an article about a successful mma fighter! about this fighting style,profile etc along with the kind of equipment he uses,apparel he wears ..there you can give the affiliate links!

That's a good idea. I've tried to just post up Amazon affiliate links before and didn't really have much success, but I like what you're saying, tie it in with an article/information about a fighter.

Perhaps, you could talk about their diet and training also. Have affiliate links for these.
Take a look at the big players.....sherdog, mmajunkie and see what they are advertising, great for information also, including a forum on each. Maybe you already knew that.

1600 fans isn't half bad- especially if they're real and eager to take out their wallets. I'd add advertising slowly so as not to make anyone upset. Maybe a subtle banner to start things off then as the previous reply mentioned an informative article or blog post to get their juices pumping. A well written article with an advertisement below it that pertains to the topic just discussed is massively powerful for making sales on a site like this.

Abstroose, as a father going through a custody fight to protect my relationship with my daughter, EVERYTHING is for sale (I have an attorney who absolutely requires I put his kids through college and pays off his Lexus). Actually I have an idea for another MMA fan page - exact same idea as someone else did for another topic (non MMA) and they have 87k fans. And I think there is just as much, if not more potential with a MMA fan page centered on that idea. Might buy a domain for it too, as there is a six letter name available that fits it exactly.
