Ok the WP Blog is HorsepowerKings - a nice blog in the automotive world niche. Too bad I cant post the URL, but it should be easy to find

I started the blog in the middle of July, and I am just now hitting the $100 adsense mark. I would be happy about that, but in my first 100,000 impressions, I only made $56.

Right now my RPM fluctuates around $3-$4

Have made $22.xx in the last 7 days

Also in the last 28 days, I have had 47,xxx page views (according to AdSense) so that number is moving up as well.

Overall, it seems to be going UP, and I dont know if I should be happy or not considering the blog is only a couple of months old. I do try to write 1-2 quality articles a day, and I just got my email subscription model setup.

Am I on the right track here? Am I missing out on something bigger? My goal is $200-300/day, and I need advice to get there. I am website developer so cranking out more blogs would not be difficult. Not sure if I should try to manage several blogs or just focus in on this one?

Also this is my first attempt at a Blog with AdSense, so I am learning as I go.

    Thanks in advance,
    J

The average clickthru rate for adsense is about .5%. Now I know some people will say they get more, but again this is AVERAGE. You should be getting about 16 clicks a day with 3K impressions a day. Either you have a super low CPC for your ads or you're conversion needs some work. Maybe your ads are placed somewhere weird or aren't related to your content.

Not an expert by any means, just some ideas.

.5 is average? Holy shit! Glad I have never had a site do so bad. Generally I get 3-5% CTR on impressions, I have had sites in certain niches do a constant 20-30%. Also, if your sit is the .com I have a hard time believing you are getting that much traffic.

The homepage of that site doesn't show any ads at all.
Are you getting most of the traffic from reddit?

Yea, you are right - have read quite a bit about keeping ads on single posts of the site instead of homepage

I would actually cut the number of ads on a post down to 2 and have the ads showing on all pages including the homepage.
Also, your site seems slow to load for me, you might need to check that.

You are good to go with only one blog.
However, you may have several web pages attach to your blog for more SEO and more traffic.
    Good luck

Ah, if your traffic sources are mainly reddit, stumbleupon, fark, etc.. then your conversions are going to be much lower. It has a lot to do with your traffic sources, some types work way better than others. You need to keep playing with your ad layouts, I find one thing works on site but not another. I actually don't ever put ads on my homepage, in my experience they don't convert as well and just make my site look like spam. Instead I have one email / newsletter signup on the homepage and then my adsense in the content.

It's seem like your first attempt Adsense site going very well OP, now you're getting ~$100/month with the only less then 2 months old site is some kind of good sign, traffic from social sites not bad since they have sharing power and number can be out run organic traffic. The only disadvantage is your niche and low convert.

If you're rely on organic flow it's not gonna happen in just couple months, just scale it up, try more sites, different niche and come back later tell us which one work best.

If that's your first blog, then you have a very cool website.

Thanks guys for the motivation. Today, I only made $xxx in AdSense - pretty discouraging but not if I keep my eyes on the big picture. I need to keep reminding myself that this is still a blog in it's infant stages.

BTW - if your long term goal is to sell your blog, what criteria makes a WordPress blog valuable? Does a steady AdSense stream alone make it valuable? Subscribers? Is it possible to sell a blog just based on the potential it may have? I guess value is in the eye of the buyer, but I would love to sell this thing when the time is right. Again, this is all new to me

Disclaimer: Not a car guy so no knowledge of this niche.

Your site looks great man! You gotta tinker with ads. I would leave left sidebar ad up, delete 2nd ad in between content and leave ad after content up. See how that does. Maybe try a text ad placement within the content, like to the left of it and you have 3 text ads showing. Trial and error man.

Your site isn't in quantcast yet but another thing is a lot of your traffic is probably 18-25 male niche and most have adblock and are web savvy/ad blind. I would bet most of your clicks are coming from divorced dads, 25+ probably closer to 40+ midlife crisis age. Just something to keep in mind.

    Just use this, works every-time.

Okay, not really, but you might want a "Please allow advertisements on this page to support it" or something along those lins where your advertisements belong if they have ad-blocker.

I would also advise having an advertisement somewhere on your front page. This is actually really nice and you probably gained yourself an average viewer. I disabled adblock for you.

EDIT: I see you have added advertisements since I last looked, the skyscraper one at the bottom looks trashy.

Selling a blog/website is not recommended since the market is not as good as 2 years ago. But if you insist, your last 3 months Adsense earning is most convincing evident for a buyer look to purchase. They usually offer 10 months a site earning from bidding price.

Ok here comes the best tip for you!! Adsense in content one above the article align left. One in the middle and one near the bottom. 10.000 visitors should atleast amount to 50 bucks with 3 to 5% ctr.

Thanks man! I did replace that skyscraper ad with a 300x350 ad, you can check it out.

After rearranging the ads, it seems to have helped.

Today I had xxx page views and made xxx, with an RPM of $4.53. Days like this make my goal of making $300-$400 a day (at least) more attainable!

Note: You should not post your money site on public like this. Haters gonna hate, it's obviously bad!

For the new site, earning within 2 months like this, you're doing it right. The ctr is not so good with social traffic as most of them see irrelevant ads. Furthermore, they're not so keen to click on ads. Yet, the ads placement split testing is the only answer before assuming like me.
