I figured it would be best to make my own journey thread for BassTrackerBoat's Build and Bank Journey. I haven't been motivated to do a whole lot in IM for a while. You know that feeling where you get a rush through your body and think, let's take action. So I did.

The basic premise behind the thread is to make what turns out to be a micro niche site targeting 60 easy keywords that have no competition. Hence build and bank in 60 days (I wonder if Greg thinks a keyword a day keeps the doctor away?). Throughout the thread BTB/Greg tells you what he is doing and what works for him. On this thread I'll be doing the same.

I also want to note that I am not affiliated with any products or services I mention throughout this thread. They are only the things I like to use and things I am testing. I will share my opinion openly though.

    Stuff I use
GSA SER + CB -You will hear a lot of people say this is dead but it is all in how you use it.
Hosting - The guys over at Hostwinds are awesome.
Domain Hunter Gatherer - Used to find my site for this journey as well as links for my PBN.
Scrapebox - What's everyone call this now? The swiss army knife? Expired web 2s, images, etc.
WP Theme - Because I don't really like the themes on themeforest.
Keyword Research - Number 1 and Number 2 - Andres is a great dude and awesome keywords. I just bought keywords from number 2, so no opinions. I wanted to take advantage of the double keywords he is offering.
VPS - TrustSignUp - No complaints.
Instant Proxies - Probably the best private proxies you will find in terms of price and quality.
TweetUp - Known this guy for years. Software works great.
FollowLiker Pinterest - So far so good. Bought this a few days ago.
Instaboost - Made by the same person as TweetUp. Doesn't have a site for it yet.
Serp Checker - May be free but limits me from checking all the time.
DragonSpeak - I'm from New England. I can talk faster than I type.

Alright I think that covers all the stuff I'll be using. I'll be buying keywords because I suck at finding them. I am writing all the content because I like to have control over what goes on my site. I like knowing that anything that is on my site is completely unique. I don't want my content to be word and sentence spun. It will also save me a bit of money considering the prices of content seem to be increasing all the time.

What Have I Done So Far?

    1. Picked a niche - My niche is home improvement. I've done a lot of it growing up. My dad always had projects and I was more than willing to help and learn.
    2. Scraped websites in my niche with DHG. Found a site with wiki links and a few authority sites in home improvement. I Registered the website and bought hosting with Hostwinds.
    3. I really like the themes at My Theme Shop so I went and bought TruePixel. It takes a lot of customization but once it's setup it looks nice.
    4. I decided to test two logo designers on Fiverr since I know branded logos cost an upwards of a couple hundred dollars. I ended up going with Kanishka. I was very happy with the results and I will likely be using him in the future for my projects.
    5. I bought a test package with Andres and got a decent keyword. I wrote the article that night of about 1000 words. I then bought another and ended up buying a custom package for 4 adsense keywords and an Amazon Keyword. All those now have articles and all of them have shown signs of ranking potential. Right now they have bounced off into wonderland though.
    6. I built a Twitter with TweetUp following users based on keywords like #diy and #homeimprovement. I also have been following users in my niche like BobVilla and ThisOldHouse. Right now I have 623 followers on Twitter. I have 6 tweets, all of which have retweets and favorites. Thanks for the free social signals.
    7. I decided this niche called for a Pinterest. I went ahead and registered and my friend Franklin Hatchett told me about FollowLiker's Pinterest bot. I decided to give it a go and I already have 23 followers in a couple days. I'm a complete pinterest noob so any followers is fine.
    8. I also built an instagram with Lajcik's Instaboost which has around 100 followers right now.

The site has 7 articles and no more scheduled. I am currently waiting for the keyword research from Nihalsad. Once I have that I will go ahead and check out the keywords and see what ones I want to target first. I'll be using DragonSpeak to write all the articles and then post them to the blog.

I haven't done any link building yet and decided just to try out a Behance link Greg posted about. All the links on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Behance are raw URL to get some authority going. I don't plan on doing any link building for a while but when I do I will post what I am doing and post some screenshots of ranks.

I still need to learn how to Silo. I have been waiting for Greg but he likely has a couple users ahead of me. If anyone has any pointers that would be great. I'm really more hands on so if I can see something rather than reading a long description then I understand it better.

I will pop in every couple of days with an update.
    Stay tuned.

I mean I can still type 100+ words per minute, but I talk super fast, and things flow out of my mouth faster than I can type. I also like using a conversational style in my writing as opposed to College essays. My puppy may look at me funny as I stare at a screen and read out loud but my arthritic fingers appreciate it.

I'm not getting any traffic currently. All traffic will be organic after I rank the keywords, which again should be easy based on the competition.

Looks like a great start to your journey. It's well thought out, and you seem like an action taker, so I have no doubt it will end well for you. You certainly couldn't have a better roadmap than B2B's. Good luck!

Well to update this thread. The keyword research from Number 2 that I mentioned didn't pay off at all. That was actually some of the worst keyword research I have ever received. I might as well of gambled the $25 in bitcoins.

Oh and for anyone who wants those juicy home improvment keywords. Here you go.

I could of trained my 15 week old puppy to find better keywords than these. Note it took 4 days. He likely took one keyword like home remodeling, stuck it into ad planner and then used traffic travis.

Like I told Andres last night he is going to be my only keyword guy. I will also be sitting down tomorrow and really thinking of keywords to use. Then I'll stick those into adplanner and traffic travis to analyze competition. With a combination of his keywords and my own I should be fine. Little annoyed that I just wasted $25 on garbage keywords but that is bound to happen. If that is what it takes to sell keywords on this site, what the hell am I doing?

I'v actually gotten some pretty sweet kw's from a pack I bought from him last week.

One has 23,000 searches, and a KC of only 20, and a CPC of $4

I have seen Andres' thread. Are the keywords worth the price? $40 for 5 keywords seems a little steep

Considering Andres actually digs deep in my niche (home improvement) and finds things related that are easy as shit to rank, yes, they are worth it. He thinks of keywords that I would never think of. I won't consider working with anyone else after that fiasco. That's just my opinion though.

That's exactly what I am looking for. The niche I am in is broad (Parenting/Baby Care) so obviously there are hundreds of different subtopics. I don't want every keyword baby this, baby that, this for babies, that for babies etc etc .. I need someone to find kw's on a broad range of sub topics.

    I will hit him up

    Thanks

No problem. Be sure to say Hatred sent you.

I'm guessing that those are the type of keywords you received from Nihalsad. I'm not going to make this entire thread about a bad seller but this is my journey thread and I said I would post my opinions of the stuff I buy.

Best of luck with your site as well!

Follow liker is the business, gets things done. You should see some nice traffic coming from Pinterest since it's got the perfect target audience for that niche. Once you get past 200 followers they should start to roll in quick.

Good luck with this journey, I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure. I'm going to hit up Andres service and check it out.

I use Andres for my KW research now too. Ironically, he is working on Home Improvement for me as well. I hope he is not making us each others competition!

I can attest he ALWAYS gives me good stuff. Really easy competition (A couple PBN links and random junk for diversity like 2,0s, bookmarks and a couple comments will rank it).

Following your journey. I am doing the same thing right now. I was looking for something totally passive to fund my larger projects and with Andres help I can easily do that.

    EDIT:

I have a couple ways I silo. One way is like Greg does it, which I learned from him.

A pillar article as a page and I have it as a parent to my article to funnel link juice. I toss quite a few links to this pillar article in the terms of raw and branded URLs and it does help with ranking.

Another way I have been playing with is using wordpress categories. Some themes allow you to have, in your URL for each page, the category the article is in. I make a few categories and they display magazine style on a cat page. I then build brand links and raw to this page. The difference is it has no article so I do not build any exact KWs to it. I can get away will tossing lower quality links at it all while getting the benefit of not tanking any KWs.
